Hi guys,

I played TCY quite a bit years ago but have never played FOF...

I'm leaning toward picking up FOF but before I do, I have a couple of questions if a few of you could be gracious enough to answer...

1) Are there any particular deficiencies in the game that might make one not want to immerse himself in a SP game? Looking for the game to be fairly realistic and also don't want to win the Super Bowl every other year...

2) Are there particular house rules that the community has found necessary or helpful to use when playing SP? Perhaps even a specific thread devoted to this topic somewhere...

Thanks for any help - finally feel like I've got to get a pro football game going as it doesn't seem there will be any good new or updated pro or college game from anyone anytime in the near future...

It depends.

One could easily win the Super Bowl every season if one knows the in and outs of FOF2k7. There are certain gameplans that the AI will simply not adjust for, and certain schemes that are much better and cheaper to win, and can guarantee you success.

That being said, if you play the game blind, it will probably take some time to find them, so you can get success from the game, playing it blind with no house rules, for a while.

Once you figure it out, house rules are necessary.

I play SP with a rule that I cannot hire anyone who has played for another team, and I cannot adjust the gameplan, and my team is usually a top competitor and wins a lot of Super Bowls, but we're not indestructible.

So it all depends on how much time you take to learn. If you get involved with MP leagues and become concerned with how to succeed in those, then going back to SP would be way too easy. But if you try and learn SP without delving into the forum, it would probably be a rewarding challenge.

I've only played SP and found it pretty challenging (but maybe I'm an idiot). After awhile you will introduce some house rules and there are plenty of ideas in this forum.

I used to build a team into a champion and then take on another unsuccessful and financially strapped team from time to time, which added some challenges.
