I've had a ton of injuries and going into the wildcard round have got a problem

I've got a 43 man man roster and am one short of the required number of guards.

Contract view screen tells me that anyone I release will save 0$ in cap room.

Room under cap is 60,000, rookie minimum is $340,000.

What do I do or, if I do nothing, what happens?

You may be able to position switch a Tackle to the Guard position, but you didn't say how many tackles you have.

If you do nothing then the game will do it for you, and you don't want that to happen.

It is 340,000 minimum salary divided by 17 regular season weeks. Once you get to playoffs, you can sign that player with 60,000 in salary cap space. Essentially you can sign a player with no bonus that should fit at no cost against the cap.

What? ... I don't think the above post is correct, but I'm not too sure what it's trying to say. It is not true that once you get to the playoffs players are free.

The reason you can't save cap by releasing anyone is because the regular season is over. HOWEVER, you can renegotiate or cap out people. If you reduce their cap cost overall this year, that will be cap space cleared.

The top 53 players count against the cap, so, it looks like you will have to renegotiate to clear cap space in order to sign anybody.

The salary has already been paid (unless the playoffs do count as 1/xth of the season.)

The playoffs don't figure in as 1/xth of the season. Renegotiating IS different, though.

The later you cut someone, the less you save. However, renegotiating during the playoffs carries the same effect as renegotiating at the start of the year. I don't know why, only that it does work this way.

Thanks for the help, I was able to sign a rookie min, turned out fine without cutting or reneging anyone.

Can we get rid of position requirements in a new version, please?
