FOF7 Roster exported and then imported into FOF 2007?

Would this work? I can't get the new game (payment options limited for what I use), so am wondering if I could update my old game with the new game's roster.

If you can't get the new game, then you shouldn't be able to access something from the new game. Does that make sense at all?
