I am normally a strong advocate of drafting the best player available other than maybe at QB but I hit situation in my last draft that made me stop and consider and I wanted to see what you guys thought

Coming off of a superbowl win my team only lost 1 starter, a 44 overall DT, and we had a 43 overall behind him. We have a very good team, elite QB, great line, great TE, above average receivers, decent back, good DLine, great mlb, decent olbs, and one of the best defensive backfields around. At the 32nd pick I wanted an olb but the best available doesn't look better than an 50-

the only players whose bureau rating puts them here who i like are a safety who looks like an 80 overall surefire stud, a corner who looks like an60 and 2 DTs who look like 60sm all three spots take a sharp drop after these guys and they likely won't be there when I pick again. BPA says no question, the safety is a stud and the better pick. However my team brings up questions.

At safety tyrann Mathieu is a stud 79 overall and 3rd year guy Brent Allen is a 64. At corner Patrick Peterson is a 66 and I drafted a guy last year with a 68 future. At DT geno Atkins is a 92 but behind him I have a couple low 40s. I am in a position with 4 66 plus guys going into contract years where I need to make a run for the title this year. What would you guys do?

Try to trade down for future picks.

Take the surefire 80-rated player. How rare is that?

It also matters who is going into a contract year. This drafted rookie is 5 years on your team guaranteed.

Sounds like you may need a corner as well but I'm assuming all of those other players are a lot less surefire in addition to being a lot less good.

I was unsure there still because despite that safety's talent I was already stacked at the spot and the league was somewhat flooded with safety talent anyway devaluing the position. I ended up trading back which allowed me to avoid any tough decision between an elite fullback and a chance on what looked like a great wr in the late 4th early 5th area. Moving back 8 spots cleared the pool a little and I ended up with the tackle who has moved up to 68 potential.
