Hey guys,
Will the AI trade with other AI teams??? I just simulated a season and not one trade in the transaction log screen... as detailed as this game seems to be, its gotta do trades right?? I hope im overlooking them somehow??? I know I can personally do trades but am really hoping that AI can make trades with other AI teams... if someone can let me know this I would really appreciate it!!!
Thank you so much in advance
Brandon

I haven't seen an AI trade in my 10-year career. Which is odd because I thought I remembered trades in previous versions, and I believe the help file makes reference to them.

Thanks guys..
Dubbs answer sounded really promising but then Molsons answer not so promising ha.. not one trade in 10 years doesn't sound promising at all... any third person chime in here and break the tie for me???? Thanks!!!

Hm. I think if you want to see trades happen, play multiplayer :P
I can't remember if the AI did trades or not in the previous version.

Check the log during the draft. The AI used to make tons of trades. Don't have much PT with this version though.

I'm still playing the 2007 version and most of the trading that I have seen is done during the draft. Even then that was done early in my career and have not seen a single trade in about five drafts.
To tell you the truth though it is probably better not to do draft trades unless you are in need of an immediate impact player (such as star qb or running back).
I'm wondering if during the first few seasons when the computer was trading during the draft they got burned and decided it was better to just stay in your place and keep all your draft picks rather than to give up draft picks for a guy that may or may not work out.
I'm also wondering if the computer AI keeps all knowledge of the computerized teams away from each other. Or will for instance if Chicago gets burned trying to do a trade will that make Seattle shy away from doing future draft trades?

This really calls for a zen approach. AI to AI trades are pretty rare, and mostly during the draft. Big trades for players are very scarce. More or less like the NFL, candidly. It sounds like that will disappoint you.
I'd encourage you to try to look past this if you are able. Player vs AI will always have warts, and this game is no exception - though it does an awful lot of things really really well. If you take a step back, I think you might be able to agree that seeing NYJ trade their 4th WR for SF's 6th round pick simply doesn't meaningfully filter your game experience that much. And that's the sort of trade that the NFL has some of that FOF really doesn't do much to replicate.
Take a step back. run your team. Enjoy the challenges of building your roster. Make trades a part of your strategy to the extent you like to. There will be plenty of player movement in the aggregate to make your league feel plenty interesting and complex. In the fine details, some of that will fail the smell test. So what? enjoy yourself.

Free Agency is really where the AI picks up their talent they need. Pretty much the same way it is done in real life. Although problem with free agency (at least in the version I play) is AI teams get into bidding wars with eachother and end up paying more than they should for him (which is the reason why I think so many AI teams get into cap hell in the game).

Don't know if the AI trades with other AI teams, but I have gotten trade requests from the AI already. Usually they're done after the Draft or before starting your Training Camp.
Check your emails during those times for Trade Requests.
