So, I've never been much into fantasy football. Part of it is I'm too much of a homer for my team to want to root for any other team to have success. I decided to live large and put $10 into FanDuel and see what I could turn it into.
I entered a $2 entry game for my first foray and had $60k to spend on my team.
QB - Carson Palmer (vs New Orleans) 7.7k
RB - Adrian Peterson (vs San Fran) 9.2k
RB - Andre Ellington (vs New Orleans) 7.9k
WR - Golden Tate (vs San Diego) 7.1k
WR - Andre Johnson (vs Buffalo) 6.9k
WR - Larry Fitzgerald (vs New Orleans) 6.0k
TE - Owen Daniels (vs Baltimore) 5.5k
K - Adam Vinateri (vs Buffalo) 5.0k
Def - Miami (vs Washington) 4.7k
My thought process (or lack of thinking) (or too much overthinking)
First, as I said earlier I'm a homer for my team, but make no mistake that team is not the Cardinals. ;)
I picked the three Cardinals mainly due to my expectation that New Orleans will be porous on defense again this year. Of course, if the Saints play out of their mind, I'm screwed. But the game is in Arizona, not the SuperDome.
I think AP is going to have a lot of motivation plus San Francisco lost so much on defense this offseason.
I went with Golden Tate and Andre Johnson because I figured there would be a pretty good chance San Diego and Buffalo would have plenty of time planning on how to limit Calvin Johnson and TY Hilton.
I went with Owen Daniels because Manning loves him some tight ends and Kubiak has had success with Daniels in the past.
For kicker, I went with Vinatieri because I'm banking on Rex proving stingy in the red zone.
For defense, I went with Miami because of their front four and they're playing the Redskins. This might be a recurring theme on this selection each week.
Ok, so I'm open to feedback. I played in a league about 12-13 years ago, so I'm definitely flying blind here. Thanks!
My goal is to play in $2 games until I double up to $20, then switch to $5 games until $50, then $10. If that doesn't work, fantasy football is not for me. ;)
