I started a new league with a complete player draft.
I have completed my first exhibition season and now am about to play my first regular season game.
At this point, when I open my QB's player card it shows a scouted rating of 93/93.
When I click on the rating history screen for this player, it shows:
*TC: 91/91
*EX: 89/89
Why is the 89/89 rating not shown on the player card? I assume it is the most up to date scouting rating.
Next, on the ratings history screen, it shows my scout to be a V. Helming.
When I click on his card I see the following info:
*current role: NONE
*current team: UNEMPLOYED
My current staff does not even show a scout...much less a V. Helming.
Help in understanding the above would be appreciated.

Helming isn't your scout. He's the "league scout." The ratings history is shown by the league scout, not yours.

Dola:
Therefore, 93/93 is how *your* staff views him. 89/89 is merely the current opinion of Helming, the generic league scout.

Scouting via crossbow... interesting.

Ben-
Thanks!
Does the league scout have a "visible" rating that I can observe? Would like to compare that to what my scouting staff thinks.
For my entire staff...are their individual ratings shown as actual (ie., 100% accurate)? And do the ratings change over time?

click on any of the players' bars to see how the league scout has them changing over time
then click on the scout's name to see his own ratings

I am also new to this game - not even played a game day / week yet - so this is very helpful.
Can the leagues scout be trusted? Do you guys pick your depth charts based on his thoughts?

The league scout is only one resource. You should also utilize your team scout and sometimes, as mentioned elsewhere, you will need to just use an eye test or guess on a player.
As you play more you will learn more about what to look for and doing the depth charts yourself will become much easier.

I would only trust the league scout if he is significantly better at scouting than your staff. Usually the league scout sucks, but occasionally a good one will pop up.

I agree with Roma; it's just another data point. Even good scouts *can* be inaccurate, too.
Sometimes you have to guess a little blindly, or play a guy and follow along. You won't always know the answers before it's time for a retrospective.
A 35/35 player could easily be 42/42 instead, or vice versa. And that can change the story quite a bit.

A couple of questions on this?
1) I assume the ratings you get on the View Rosters (including your own team) are the ratings from the league's scout.
2) How can you find the rating of the league's scout?
3) In the View Staff screen I don't have a scout listed, does this mean I don't have a scout?
4) Where do I find the ratings for my players from my scout?
5) If I have a scout, how do I find out his rating?

2. Clicking on the ratings history.
3. Poor wording by many people. You don't have a "Scout." You have four staff members with scouting ratings. The view you see is the combinations of your entire staff ("scouts" instead of "scout").
4. Everywhere you see ratings other than in the ratings history and ratings history export file.
5. The "scouting" rating of you HC, OC, DC, and AC.

I need all the help I can get. I decided to just get in and play the game, I have lost 2 pre-season games so far...
