I believe it's to increase profitability of your franchise. I think it's just whomever is most profitable picks first.

Don't give out any signing bonuses, win a lot of games, increase the capacity of your stadium (Especially luxury boxes).

Love the quote, when you say don't give out any signing bonuses, im assuming to the players... how do you restructure the contract to get them to sign?

Though based off an older version many of the hints and tips in this thread on ticket pricing and stadium renovation may help you in creating a profitable franchise.

Oh, that's interesting. Are the entirety of signing bonuses expensed in the year the contract is signed?

Oh, that's interesting. Are the entirety of signing bonuses expensed in the year the contract is signed?Signing bonuses are paid right away, the full amount and they count towards your balance in the running season. The bonus money figure is or can be very large portion of the overall costs. In a level playing field situation, that can help get the edge on many teams.
I don't get it... All the players I have seen requesting signing bonuses never sign unless I offer them some portion of what they are requesting in bonus.. What am I missing? How can I get around offering signing bonuses?

You will have to give out some bonus money to people. To give less you'll have to give significantly more salary.

Yeah, its not easy to avoid paying massive signing bonuses, but if 50 million might make a difference between you picking top 10 and bottom 10, then pinch those pennies and risk sucking for a year.

Giving out a lot of bonuses in 1 season may hurt you in the staff draft that next year, but you will likely have low expenses in the following year. Especially if year 2 salaries are lower
