View Full Version : Do coaches improve and decline?

Just picked up a 35 year old HC. Can I expect him to improve, and to what extent if at all?

They do improve, and they seem to improve quite a bit sometimes. I feel like the decline period a coach goes through is much less pronounced, but that is purely anecdotal. I would venture to assume that a coach generally shouldn't decline much with age because coaching isn't a physical skill, so I would assume the game is fairly similar.

Thanks Julio, that is what I hoped! Makes you wonder if we should have some sort of age related option seeing as we can now cling on to coaches for so long. Go for the weaker younger guy in the expectation he will grow, over the superior coach in his late 60s type of thing.

The coach draft preferences are WAY underdeveloped right now. The inability to set different search parameters for each coach vacancy to be filled is a problem, the inability to have any control over the age of the coach hired is a problem, its just not ideal at all. The concept of the coach draft is excellent, but the execution of it is lacking right now in a big way.

Do coaches go into the Hall of Fame, or just players?

And is there anywhere in game to access a coach's history/yearly records?

His head coach record yes I've seen.. But I'm talking like a breakdown of where a staff member has been each year and his record in each of those years, etc.

Similar to the statistics page for a player.. anything similar to that?
