Winning a Front Office Bowl with a Rookie QB

Has anyone won a front office bowl with a rookie QB in a MP league?

In OSFL, I have a 12-4 team where I traded up to grab a 39/91 (Pre TC) 1.1 rookie QB. I still have my old starter (11th year, 46/46 rating with 85 SR) that's pretty decent (94 qb rating last season). We have some cap issues and the old starter cost $26m in salary. It would be nice to trade/cut him and save $26m in cap cost but i don't want to give up competing to win it all this upcoming season.

Also, rookie QB performance. Has anyone seen a rookie QB achieve a 100+ QB rating starting all 16 games?

Both of my QBs had a 100+ QBR. Mariota led the Jets to the bowl game but lost (15-1 regular season record). Griese's Vikings lost in the conference finals (13-3 regular season record).

Quality rookie QBs can be successful but need a solid supporting cast. And you need to use the right game plan. I typically try to focus on a run oriented GP with a lot of short passing.

FYI, both players were from computer generated draft classes. The names were changed by the commish to reflect NFL players.

The main thing a young QB needs is to know a lot of formations. A guy with 7 or 8 formations is going to be hard to get much out of over the course of a season and will probably hinder your offense compared to a solid veteran who can execute anything you want him to.

Dump the old dude, get started on developing the new kid and his cohesion.

Even if your new QB drops 10 points future, he's still a stud. Shoot, even if he bombs the first TC/Ex2, he may go back up next year since Jim has made it three years for true talent evaluation. Really, for QBs, that window is more like 5 years.

You traded up, you got the goods, use the goods. Tailor your offense around his skills and never look back.

I guess I also have to add that this guy had a beast line (both offense and defence) and also a very solid receiver..
