Lose to an (0-7) NY Jets team in week 9.
Beat a (9-0) Dallas Cowboys team in week 11.
Haven't played this game in a long, long time but felt the urge to start it up and been playing as the Detroit Lions. Pretty mediocre first season (5-5) after 11 weeks.
Just thought it was interesting that lost to a winless team and then turned around and beat an unbeaten team.
Anyone else see this? Is it common?

The best part is the Cowboys went on to lose 6 in a row to finish 9-7.

Yeah. I feel like you sometimes have a real rivalry - a team you just can't beat or not win against often (see team versus team statistics). My bears are really successful (.695 Regular season pct), but I often lose against the Saints (.491) and I'm 6-7 against Carolina and 2-4 against the Bills. On the other hand, I'm 15-2 against the Cowboys or 6-0 against the Ravens.
So yeah, In my humble rookie opinion, streaks play a role - but also the team you're up against.
If I am on a winning streak, I know that playing in Carolina or San Francisco could end it. If it's a losing streak, recovering from it is easier when playing at home against the Bucs or the Cowboys.

This is what I love about the game - you just never know what will happen. In my most recent career, we had a Bowl winning 13-3 team. The next year, the QB goes down for 5 games but when he comes back in week 8 we can't get a win. We end the season going 3-12 in games decided by 8 points or less, 3-13 overall. The next year we're 11-5, win the Bowl with only 5 games decided by 8 points or less.

I think I can trump that. My Bears were 6-8 and marked yellow in the standings (practically out of the Playoffs), Detroit and Green Bay above us. They both lose and finish 7-9, we win both matches - 8-8. Needless to say, we managed the impossible and not only won the division but also the bowl. It's crazy how the odds were against us..

Hahahahahaha....my Lions suck. I have a pro bowl QB (Stafford) and WR (Johnson) and we still are 16-16 after 2 seasons. :(
