View Full Version : Simming Single Week Advances To Next Week. Thoughts?

When I'm playing SP, I usually sim a week and check the box score. It's advancing to the next week. Makes for faster simming, but is there an easier way to see the box score besides going back to the previous week? I suppose I can open up the Team Schedule window on another monitor, but how does this work for single-monitor folks?

When I first saw it, I didn't like it mainly because I like to quickly look at a quick right click on my teams score for quick leaders, then quick box check, then quick log without the extra clicks, but it grew on me fast because either way, I have to make the same amount of clicks. :D

I would prefer it NOT to advance to the next week automatically.

I think I've solved this one for me in a way that works fine. On my left monitor I'm putting the Team Summary Screen on the left side. It takes up most of that half of the screen, then on the right I've got the Team Schedule and Simulations screens. Team Schedule updates automatically with each sim and gives a link to the box and log. This is pretty much a perfect solution for me, and now i'm liking it advancing so I don't have to do it myself.

Not too keen on it (single monitor) but guess it's something I will have to get used to

I'm still messing with it.

Where do you find the Team Summary screen?

I wish it would not advance as well.

Its not the same number of clicks its an extra one. One going back and then looking at boxes and then once again going forward vs just clicking on the box scores and then going forward the next week.

Answer: it doesnt work for me. I don't like it - I don't want to know I won or lost a game by seeing my team's schedule the next week. I want to review stuff the week of. My first yr I took the Giants to the playoffs. We made it to the WC round. I simmed and got taken to the next week and didn't see my team and I thought to myself "oh, I guess my team didn't win". It's minor but I rather not find out I won or lost in that manner.

Where do you find the Team Summary screen?

As with many things, we now have to go hunting for it.

-go to the main left-side window
-scroll over "Almanac"
-carefully navigate down to "Blue Book"
-be careful not to accidentally scroll over anything else or you're screwed
-Team Summary is on that sub-menu

I agree with MizzouRah, especially around playoff time.

My understanding is that this was not a design choice but rather a required byproduct of the move to modeless windows.

Add me to the camp of not wanting it to proceed....prefer to stay on current week.

I am part of the single monitor crowd and I would prefer to stay on the same week. In general the new window layout is a drag on single monitors. I am constant moving windows around, some half the way off the screen. There are few other places, like selecting coaches and drafting, where you have to go into a click fest from buttons on one edge of the window to other far corner which is are a bummer.

Not liking that it advances and not liking that it stays where you were if you close it and come back to it (example, I am in week 8 but scroll back to week 3 to see a previous game's details against my current opponent; then I close the window to make some other changes, when I open that screen again it is still on week 3 and I have to scroll back to current week).

Kinda defeats the Hide Results option in the playoffs though. As someone who watches games on Solevision even in SP it is close to a game breaker tbh.

Dola, two potential solutions:

A new simulate game button is added outside the main simulate games window so you can simulate without the fixtures being visible, so the game doesn't automatically run ovef to the following weeks fixtures

Hitting simulate games on the current method auto closes the simulate games window, again meaning the next week's games are hidden

I would say that the highlighted option would be best, and auto close the sim window after the sim's are complete ONLY if the option for hiding results is selected.

For those who haven't noticed, 8.0a has a new option to "Simulate Week then Close." I'm sticking with what I outlined in post #4, but I suppose some will find this useful.

If it is a design issue as mentioned above, I guess I'll have to live with it, but I also check box scores upon completion of sim, so it adds steps to that.

The sim then close is good for avoiding the playoff "spoiler" but but again it adds more clicks.

I agree.. why can't we just have an option to not advance?
