Just converted in NAFL. I was looking at my staff and noticed that my DC was not a DC. His primary focus was offensive line and his coaching style was Offensive Line. :lol:
No wonder my defense didn't play well. My DC was too busy helping the O line.
Has anyone else seen this? I wonder if it will change once the season rolls over.

It happened in the TFL to several teams. It does change but not until after training camp unfortunately

I *think* it has something to do with FOF2K7-->FOF7-->FOF8 staff. Staff had different ratings and responsibilities in FOF2K7.

Jim said if it didn't break it then, it won't now. There was no reason for us to think it was an issue before, it's why it wasn't reported.

So if it's not fixed until after TC, how am I supposed to draft a defense or sign guys? I don't know if I'm running a 34 or a 43

You will know after TC, if you want to be certain. Get a new hire.

This scenario occurs when the DC has an offensive primary focus. That was not critical in FOF 7. Of course, the DC now determines the defense front in FOF 8. The issue is that teams facing this situation don't know how to build their front via free agency and the draft.

Exactly this

I had not thought to check, but you are correct. The column is a coded field, but the list below will help sawblade and others.
1 = True 34
2 = 34 Eagle
3 = 43 Under
4 = 43 Over

Leaguedata folder in the normal path structure, but remember FOF 8 the Local folder. The file is Staff.csv.

I'll have to wait until the league roll over to the new season. That folder is empty for now.

Just finished the staff draft in CFL and the AI drafted me another offensive guy with primary focus on offensive line as my DC. :crazy:
Checked in the staff data and found our he's a 34 Eagle. But what the shit man? Why is the game doing this? Is it a bug I should report?
The other problem with this is 90% of my front seven are 43 guys. I put in to hire a 43 guy during the staff draft. Not opnly does the game hire me an offensive guy, but he's a 34. Totally screws my defense now.

Check in FOF7 and see if that was the case there. If so, there's nothing that can be done. Jim said it should've been reported then. I didn't know to report something like that as I thought it was supposed to be there. Did you choose only 4-3 for the draft?

In FOF7 his primary focus was offensive linemen as well.
Because the majority of my players are 43 guys, only three of 13 front seven guys are 34, I put in to hire a 43 guy in the staff draft preferences.

My mistake. I looked at the wrong line. I did get drafted a 43 DC. I'm all set other than the fact he's an offensive minded guy
