View Full Version : Chances of FOF bugs being fixed?

I started playing FOF with FOF7 (probably fairly late in its progression) and liked it enough to try FOF8.

To all those who have more experience with the game's history, will FOF8 likely have all the bugs hammered out (or most).

FOF7 had hardly any noticeable bugs (not any that were devastating to me). FOF8 is beyond horrible in regards to bugs -- beyond any game I have ever played (not including beta).

On that note, it makes me wonder on the point of 'beta' testing. Did this game have no testing at all? Is it common for FOF games to start of so horrible and then gradually get hammered out as customers report bugs?

I do like that it seems some of the bugs have been fixed (more than we can say about Madden eh?). However, I do hope the rest of them get fixed at so point.

FOF8 is beyond horrible in regards to bugs -- beyond any game I have ever played (not including beta). What are all of these bugs? I know of maybe 3 or 4 remaining after 8.0b (defensive blitzing, playing time for injured players, True 34 over-use in MP, what else?) some of which I've just read abut but I haven't confirmed myself.

Historically, Jim is very good at fixing bugs when they're reported. I've personally reported literally hundreds over the years, and virtually every one has been fixed. I know that every bug I reported between 8.0a and 8.0b (maybe a dozen or so) was fixed in 8.0b. My observation is that often stuff isn't reported, but rather posted here and complained about.

This is very likely true. I have read your posts about Jim fixing bugs effectively and quickly (and my own shorter-termed observations have been the same), but is this really the customers job? There should be a beta team that could have caught all these bugs before release (or most of them). I'm confident that the beta team could even have been a volunteer team.

I appreciate your affirmation that Jim has a good track record for fixing bugs. It is nice to have further confirmation that remaining bugs will be fixed. There are still a number of glaring bugs (after the 8.b patch, which admittedly fixed an amazing number of important bugs). One such serious bug is the blitzing bug mentioned here:

It appears blitzing is basically broken, in the 3-4 at least. It isn't cosmetic either. Your stud pass rushing LB will often ignore instructions to blitz even if you instruct the send the best rusher slider to always. The game will send someone else or just rush 3. Basically it seems to be random. This seems like a major bug that is having quite an impact on gameplay. I reported this before 8.0b. It wasn't fixed. I have now reported it again.

Another that I have recently noticed (and have not reported yet) is a bug where bars of some of my players keep reverting back when I load a SP season (reverting back to preseason ratings).

Strong comment. You noted one (and don't think that is a bug) but what others?

My comments on the game might come across as negative. But that is only because I want the game to become all it can be. Jim is obviously working hard to sort the game out. 8.0b and c in recent days.

It gets better with every patch. It is a good game now and he will tie up the loose ends, I am sure. He always has in the past.

Heh, looks like 8.0c was more than just what was mentioned. Very Jim like.

I think he may have taken an easy way out with the blitz bug by changing the slider labels. Ultimately I have no problem with that. At least we can plan accordingly now. All 3-4 LBs better be half decent at blitzing. There are no false promises any longer. I am happy with that.
