I'll get to my question first, then my other comments - How is the experience of playing FOF8 without trying to be the coach/coordinators? I have always loved the team building aspects of FOF, but don't have the time/patience to dig into the nitty gritty of game plans and play calling, so I was curious how good the AI is at running that part of my team?

As for my comments, Wow! I don't visit for a couple of months and BAM, I missed a new release of FOF! I'm sure nobody here knows who I am, since I have only lurked for the past few years, but I was pretty active back in the previous forums, even making some tools/utilities for the earliest releases of FOF. It is cool to come back here and see some familiar names (I feel like I have read all 22,000 posts by QuikSand! :) ), and I hope it is worth the investment (of time more than money) to get FOF8 and get back involved!

That's how I play.. strictly GM. Plays a great game of football!

the GML multiplayer league is exactly this - no gameplanning, just GM duties

Glad the GM playing types are coming out of the woodwork.

I'm a GML guy too. Only interested in the GM side of the game. The AI seems to do a solid job so far as I can tell

Thanks guys - I love the look of the new play book section (from the screen shots anyway), and wish I had that kind of time to invest, but I am glad to hear that I can just hire some good coaches and sit back and simulate the seasons quickly. I will definitely be purchasing soon!

When I first started, I took over the GM of the Browns and then after Carolina won the Super Bowl, I hired their defensive coordinator, Sean McDermott as our new Head Coach and in couple of years we turned this team around and won the Super Bowl over the Packers. :)

Now I'm the GM of the Jaguars.. which might even be a tougher job. ;)

Question to anyone that plays this way. Do you reset the OFF and DEF gameplan after each week or do you just leave it the way it is?

I click the option to have my coaches do it, so I never touch it. I do let my coach handle depth charts each week, but tweak them here and there.

I play as just the GM as well. I only get involved with 2 parts of coaching:

1 - the depth chart. Sorry coach, but you aren't playing the 13 year QB when I have a young one I need developed.

2 - At the start of the year after I REX the playbook to the run/pass split I'm looking for, I'll tweak 10 to 15 plays to make sure my "stars" are involved at the rate I want them. Things like adding some passes to the RB or TE, adding a couple of deep passes, etc.

Ben went over that in another thread and I love how it is working.

Any idea where to find that by any chance?

Basically it's

-start with Rex
-adjust to your team's talent
-profit
