I haven't done any testing, but I had a player "Junior Dunk" in my Mp CCFL team that was holding out pre-training camp.. I'm new so i asked some people what the deal was. I was told it's almost certainly money and no other factors although there might be some slight factors.

pre training camp he was 244lb SLB, currently making 6.7 over 2.. asking for 12.7 over 3.. not a huge increase.

I was told they hold out even from training camp, so i offered him 10.7 over 3 and exported. Today I see he did participate in training camp, lost the weight i wanted (he's down to 236lb , and then started another hold out.

I'm not sure if everyone's information is wrong and they participate in training camp while holding out... or if making pretty much any offer going into that stage will trigger him to participate in camp and then evaluate his contract.

Either way I got the result I was looking for, going forward I can see this as easy exploitation if in fact the small offer tricked him into camp

I really had no idea it would work, and we shouldn't do that.

I think this is a case of an unclear question.

They hold out of training camp?

I know I interpreted this question to be "will a holdout continue through the training camp phase of the game if it's not resolved?"

And I gave you my best, and still faithful response:

Holdouts are announced at the start of late free agency. They can last through training camp, through the preseason, or through the entire regular season. I don't know if a player can end his holdout only at certain slots, but it seems like it can happen anytime. In prior FOF games, I have seen it happen mid-preseason and mid-regular season, seemingly randomly.

If he does back down, he will take a hit in his loyalty - often making him unwilling to receive a contract offer with you, citing "past injustices." I think that might be connected to loyalty of zero, but I am not certain whether that's an IFF relationship.

So, from this new thread (and why do we need a new thread?) it now appears that your real question was "will the player respect my weight training wishes even if he's holding out?" And to that, I probably wouldn't have offered an answer, because I didn't know it -- until now, I guess.

My strong suspicion is that your guy rejected your contract offer, which you can confirm by checking the transaction log. I don't think he actually signed and then "then started another hold out."

And therefore, I'm back to my initial answer above. Holdouts start at the beginning of late free agency, and can last indefinitely, as long as the entire season.

To that, we can now apparently add "...but they will still respect your weight training wishes during the training camp stage."

Happier now?

You can weight train, position switch, or cut a guy who is holding out. If the holdout is young enough to have green, he will also gain cur during TC (at least that was the case in previous versions.) But the holdout continues through TC and sometimes much longer, as Quik noted. This had nothing to do with the contract that you offered.

with the combination of both responses, I understand what happened lol. I didn't mean to sound like I meant I was intentionally given misinformation.. I only meant from my understanding holding out would mean he would not participate at all in TC, then with what unfolded in the transaction log it would seems like a way around the holdout. It's not, and I'm ok with that...
