Has anyone teased out where the massive dropoff occurs? (I am guessing that it's weight-related, but not 100% certain.) In my SP career, I have one light LB who'd switch to SS at 95%. The other one is 25%. They are only 4 pounds apart in weight, and both are 6'0".

Just moved a 6'0" 214 3rd Yr LB to SS. He retained 92%. I just had the thought that I know in prior version Exp had a significant impact on the % percentage retained in prior versions. I don't think I ever moved a player outside their rookie season. That doesn't seem to be nearly as big of an issue in FOF8 though.

The projection is also related to the different bars that do or do not matter for a safety's overall rating.

In prior versions it was unrelated to bars, and I haven't seen anything that would suggest it's different now.

In prior versions it was unrelated to bars, and I haven't seen anything that would suggest it's different now.The various skills, especially if said player has a mix of high and low bars, are very much depending on what the new overall rating will be. The individual bars won't change much, but the overall rating will. Which is still the same as with how it has worked in previous versions.

There's two different processes at work and I was assuming Ben was talking only about the weight related part.

For a lot of positional changes there's a weight component, and that's the in game message you get that says X player will retain xx percentage of his ratings. So during this process individual bars do not matter.

Individual bars matter once the player is at his new position, and I bet for a LB to S there's a big difference in how those coverage bars effect the new rating. I reread Ben's initial post and it's not totally clear to me which process he's talking about.

This guy was originally an FOF7 generated player so he may not be a prime example of what Ben is looking for. The GML converted to FOF8 prior to the 2039 season so I converted him to SS prior to TC of that first FOF8 season. I don't recall what the conversion %hit was for the change but had it been sizable I wouldn't have done it.

SS Rusty Lane Player Details (http://gml.fof-belco.com/playercard.php?playerid=24486)

For whatever reason it doesn't show his ratings from '37 and '38 but I recall him being a 50/50'ish kind of guy and he obviously performed pretty well at LB despite his lack of size.

After the conversion to SS he was buried on the depth chart (also held out and eventually ended his holdout so we knew he was gone after the 2039 season so played his eventual replacement instead) and he appeared to boom (???) as he's back to where I remember him being rated prior to his position switch.

Clear as mud...

not only that but he seems to be playing much better at SS then he did at LB. So rude to make that career change for a player than drop him...tisk tisk :)

Haha...the bastard was looking for a crazy pay-day and with his weight being what it was I was worried he'd suck at LB in FOF8. So, instead of paying him I figured I'd experiment a little...for science. ;)

Sadly, he ended his hold out early on so we didn't even have the chance to keep him and it's biting us in the ass at the moment as the guy playing ahead of him retired and the kid I drafted in the 1st round to replace him sucks.

Karma's a bitch...
