FBPro 98 still the best game ever.. it is a shame no one seems to have the ability to recreate that game!

Loved that game back in the day. Those X's and O's moving down the field. And what was the big defensive call -- Inside Charge?

Loved FBPro training camp. I used to dump out my player ratings before and after, and run the numbers on who "popped." The game's system was that each year you allocated training time to each item in 5% increments (practical minimum of 5%), and the guy advanced by that % of the distance between his current and his hidden maximum rating in that area.
When you had a guy assigned only 5% in some area, but he still gave you a +1 in camp, that means he has at least 20 points of hidden potential in that area. Great sign.
I did indeed love that game.

I miss the baseball one for the same reason.

Nah, for me the series peaked with FBPRO 97. But, yeah, I would love a modern version!

Wasn't the 96 version the only one that had the editor in it where you could tweak the player ratings in game, such as applying bell curves and such? If so that was the best version cause it allowed the user the ability to even out the ratings of the players when they got out of wack

The Free Safety blitz - option 4, then option 6, was my go to, hopefully they didn't call a screen.
Inside Charge while good, just didn't have the same consistency that the FS blitz had for me.
All that said, I finally got my hands on a manual at one point and started reading it, and learned how everything was set up, and made my offenses much better at handling those defensive calls.

Yeah, I remember a lot of players loved that FS blitz.

there was an early community that created some amazing utilities for 98 that made the game even better. Group of friends and I had a league that went on for 10 real world years even after the game died.
99 was the all time biggest disappointment in computer software for me - thankfully that was right about the same time I discovered FOF

It's unfortunate what happened. After being an avid player of versions 95-97, I worked on 98 and 99, which died due to Sierra not wanting the sports division to continue. It was never finished properly.

This is still the only football game I play. I am playing it right now as a matter of fact. The VPNFL files made this game phenomenal. Waiting for Axis Football to get up to FBPro 98's level before I retire it for good.
