I've had an issue importing / exporting from my MP league and I've done everything I can think of to solve the issue. I've been getting one error that says something along the lines of import failed: some files were downloaded but there's no save game. The other is error code 12029 this could be due to anti virus software.

Some things I've tried are running FOF as an administrator, and turning my firewall off. I even had a machine with nothing on it of any value so I reset it to factory settings, disabled windows defender and I still get the same messages.

I tried a couple different search words in this forum? If anyone can help me out you'd be pretty awesome. I know I can download imports and send exports manually, but it'd be much less of a hassle overall if I could just go back to doing it in the game browser like everyone else

edit: I found this post with no responses, but this is a more detailed explanation of the exact issue I'm facing with import and exports, but it explains it a little better.

Any chance you moved your game to another computer and did so by copying the FOF folders? If so, that is a known problem. Try this:

1. Rename your FOF folder.
2. Create the league again (in game) and allow the game to create the folder structure.
3. Copying the files into their respective folders.

No, I moved to a new computer that I've never had FOF on and I installed FOF from steam.

I even tried uninstalling and deleting the hidden Solecismic software folders and starting from scratch that way but it didn't help.

For now I have a working solution to this problem that gets me to the right stage and more importantly has given me a couple clean exports in a row now so I hopefully can just continue on business as usual.

I set up my league manually by getting the correct files from my commish and putting them in my leagues file. This allowed me to open the game as my team, but on the wrong stage. Did an import config (requires you to close the game).

I restored career, which gave me a message that some files were missing. I tried importing which failed with the message that files were downloaded but no save game was found. Got pissed off, closed the game. When I opened the game back up I was on the correct stage, I'm assuming this is because the restore career function managed to pull the right files to get me there.

From there I got a clean export. Have gone through one more stage since then. I used restore career to get the stage (which still gives me an error message) but this time I didn't have to close the game to get the stage and I was able to get another clean export off it. Obviously this is not an optimal situation but if it works consistently then I can live with it.

I also realized somewhere along that way that it never changed the team names in my league. I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be taken care of by import config, and I've tried that a couple times without error.

Something interesting is the guy who posted that link I left in my last post happens to be in my league so I asked him how he managed to get around it. This was his response

"Did you happen to change internet providers, because that seems to be what my problem is. I can't access the game at home but can access it from my dads house, the bar where my mom works at and I work at Pittsburgh Airport and can access it there. So its a pain in my ass during the offseason where we do things everyday and especially this month since I'm only working 3 days a week. I hope this helps you out because I lucked out into finding out the solution."

What's weird is I haven't changed ISPs, changed my modem or router, or done anything that should have affected anything on my desktop recently. It pretty much doesn't get used other than internet browsing.

So now I'm under the impression that this is some kind of network issue. I had a laptop with nothing of any importance on it so I cleared the hard drive and reset it to factory settings, turned off the windows defender firewall and I still had the exact same issues as the first machine. So to test this I'm going to have to hook into wifi at a few different places and see if there's any difference.

I'm simply not tech savvy enough to understand why I'd be able to import / export without an issue on someone else's internet and not my own, or even how I'd google search a solution with that info, but that seems to have worked for BigA.

If anyone with more tech knowledge has any ideas what the problem could be with that new info it'd be great to have a real solution

Well for the sake of following up I can confirm that whatever this issue is its because of my home internet network. I'm now on my third different wifi where I had no issues with imports or exports.

I'm going to try and dig into my router settings the next time I have the opportunity. If anyone has any tips what to look for that'd be great, this thread seemed to get a decent number of views so I figured I'd give it a shot.

No idea mate. There was a time I had an intractable problem with FOF and I ended up completely reformatting my hard drive and starting again. Got it to work but hardly a practical suggestion

^ I already factory reset this laptop just for the sake of trying to fix this issue. The only thing I can think of is maybe some kind of port is closed that shouldn't be. Its nice to have the problem narrowed down, but it's also a big fuck you knowing my home wifi is the issue

Last ditch effort: so I'm not sure who the ISPs is for the different wifis I've successfully imported files from, but I'm starting to think the blame lies with my ISP. Optimum is pretty much the only game in town here for cable / internet. I just managed to get on a neighbor's wifi (seriously who has an open signal these days?!) and I've been receiving the exact same errors I get when trying to import from my home wifi.

Anyone playing in MP leagues using Optimum without any issues?
