I know the format of the league screws with the game for those predictions. Example: It has Pedro Martinez and forecast for 17 games. It also has Scherzer listed as one of the top 10 projected pitchers with just 6 games played and a predicted ERA of 5.14.

Forget PM'ing them I'd love to see the star ratings for each player perhaps alongside their draft position? I can only imagine mine go miniscule in the middle rounds and then buff back out again late (or never :) )

Yes, please.
And is there a format you want the lineup in? Do you want R/L splits or just a batting order and defensive set up.

Posted stars with the rosters in this thread. The stars are relative to all players in the league and it looks like it downplays relievers.
Not going to post the league file. Want to keep competition as even as possible so everyone has the same chance.
For lineups. As much detail as you would like, if you want to designate depth chart as well that would be fine. For pitchers you can give me stater one, starter two and then what reliever assignments you have (LR, MR, SU, CL).

You can give me right/left or just one generic lineup. Whichever you feel comfortable with.

I can only assume he's horrendously nerfed because he averaged less than a strikeout every three innings and a K/BB of around 1.4, but come on. He managed to keep a WHIP around 1 over 453 innings and 48 complete games and it's in the top 20 all-time in single season WAR FFS.

My experience stars alone don’t determine performance. It’d be interesting to see ratings at some point.

I also wouldn't be hung up on the stars. I don't know how the game determines them overall.

I am honestly super intrigued by this management style. An actual league where you had to GM blind - no ratings whatsoever but just worked off of statistics - would be weird as hell. And maybe amazing.

I'm looking for an easy site to post the data to so I can link to it here.
It's a bit crazy at the moment, hopefully I can settle into s oattern.
My mom is in the ER, I'll be going to see her shortly. We still have the friend drama going on. My daughter's friend stayed at our house last night. The more I piece together, the more i think her mother just might be insane.

Thank you. Okay, my daughter and her friend ended up staying over another friend's house so that cuts down on some of this. My mom has been admitted and they are still doing tests.
She is having some mild dementia from a UTI (I know that seems like an off combination but this has happened before). The nurse was treating it like we had no idea what we were talking about when we told her this is what is doing it. When she is okay she may have a few minor memory issues but nothing like what happens when she gets a UTI and is admitted to the hospital. She sort of lives in her own reality when that is going on; we're lucky so far that this has been a pleasant reality. There have been times in the past where she was paranoid that people were going to kill her and other insane things like that so we are happy when she has a reality that is at least pleasant when going through this.

Odd that the nurse was acting that way; I'm pretty sure the UTI-dementia link is fairly well known. Then again, I've had several family members deal with dementia and my wife is in the medical field, so maybe my perception is skewed from normal.

It's the 2nd time we had pushback from a nurse. The next one that came in didn't question it, however.
Just found out that she has sepsis which I know can be bad. She seems okay at this moment and they don't seem alarmed so maybe it is mild (if that is a thing).

Will post the updated site after a few. The universe seems to be against me tonight. The stomach issue mentioned in the GotW thread, my mom seems to be losing her mind a little more tonight and the teenage drama has resurfaced. My daughter's friend is apparently in the hospital in handcuffs. The only story I have heard so far is from her mother but I think she is a little insane to be honest so I don't know what to think. The last thing her mother said was something about having her church pray over her daughter because she is full of evil spirits. That kind lo loses credibility with me.

All of the one-run games for my team! And New York resorting to small ball to beat us for our only defeat thus far: single, fielders choice, stolen base, score from 2nd on a single to LF with a play at the plate.
Loving this league!

Week 4 will be Friday or Saturday (have to see what family scheduled look like). Week 5 will most likely be the following Tuesday. Next week marks the start of an insane 3 week stretch where I will be attending 7 (still could be 9) concerts in 21 days. I'll work the scheduling into that and family schedule.
What are the odds I will have hearing after that?
It's my "mid life crisis" I guess; my last full month before turning 50 so I wanted to send off the 1st half century with one hell of a party.

I know it's only 6 games, but man some of these stats:
Seaver with a 7.04 ERA
Alexander with a 5.57 ERA
Carlton Fisk is 2-23 for an .087 average.
Mr. Padre (your player of the week) is hitting .481.
Helton, whom I thought I drafted too early, is hitting .400 and leading the team in RBIs.
Everyone on my infield (including Fisk) has exactly 1 home run.
Everyone in my outfield (including Mays and Aaron) has exactly 0 home runs.

Sunday's sim is going to be make or break for the playoff:
10-4 New York:
@ 4-10 Stamford
vs. 4-10 Indianapolis
Overall Opp. Winning %: .446
Although New York has gotten most of the heavy lifting out of the way in their schedule, they still have Big Inning and Canton lurking in the last week of the season. If they blink against either of the cellar-dwellers, their prime position could quickly change.
10-4 Canton:
@ 8-6 Big Inning
vs. 9-5 Willow City
Overall Opp. Winning %: .607
Despite sitting in the driver's seat, Canton has what is easily the toughest schedule from here on out: in order they face t4th, 3rd, t4th, and t1st. Any slip could open the door...
9-5 Willow City:
vs. 7-7 Baltimore
@ 10-4 Canton
Overall Opp. Winning %: .554
Willow City didn't do themselves any favors by losing both games to New York this season, and they have a pretty tough row to hoe the rest of the way; that being said they control their own destiny with regard to at least getting into a tie for 2nd.
8-6 Big Inning:
vs. 10-4 Canton
@ 6-8 San Fernando
Overall Opp. Winning %: .536
Big Inning may be in the best position of the contenders: they have games against two of the three teams ahead of them, which bookend games against "weaker" competition in Otisburg and San Fernando. Making up two games with four to play is going to be no easy task however you slice it, though.
7-7 Tallahassee:
@ 4-10 Indianapolis
vs. 7-7 Baltimore
Overall Opp. Winning %: .482
7-7 Baltimore:
@ 9-5 Willow City
@ 7-7 Tallahassee
Overall Opp. Winning %: .536
Technically the 7-7 teams aren't eliminated yet; that being said it would take a friggin' miracle for either of them to get there being down three games with four to play and having FOUR teams ahead of each of them in the standings. They face off against one another this week, and the loser is almost assuredly eliminated.
6-8 San Fernando:
@ 5-9 Otisburg
vs. 8-6 Big Inning
Overall Opp. Winning %: .518
See below for the crazy path San Fernando needs to take to get into the conversation for the postseason.
Vince, Pt. II
09-20-2019, 02:30 AM
It turns out San Fernando at 6-8 can actually make it into a tiebreaker situation if they win all four of their games and every one of the following things goes exactly this way: Canton goes at least 3-1, and their only loss can be to Tallahassee.
New York goes 0-4.
Willow City goes 0-4.
Big Inning goes 1-3 (beating Willow City).
Tallahassee beats Baltimore and loses to either Indianapolis or Canton.
Baltimore beats Willow City & New York, but loses to both Stamford and Tallahassee.
If that all goes down, we have the following records: 14-4: Canton (or 13-5)
10-8: New York, San Fernando
9-9: Willow City, Big Inning, Tallahassee, Baltimore
Easy peasy lemon squeezy!
Vince, Pt. II
09-22-2019, 11:44 PM
For Baltimore or Tallahassee, I'm going to ignore tiebreakers at 10-8 or 11-7 because there are a ton of combinations and I have no idea what the tiebreakers are. Getting in outright comes down to this:
They must win out, going 4-0.
New York or Canton has to go 0-4.
Neither Willow City (2 wins) nor Big Inning (3 wins) can get to 11 wins.
Since Canton plays every single one of those teams listed above and Willow City and Big Inning play each other, this gets convoluted. The linchpin game here is actually Willow City @ Big Inning; if Willow City wins:
Canton must beat Willow City, so New York has to be the team that goes 0-4.
Willow City can't win another game, and must go 0-3.
Big Inning has to lose one additional game.
If Big Inning wins:
Big Inning needs to pick up two losses among Canton, San Fernando, and Otisburg.
Willow City needs to pick up two losses among Baltimore, Canton, and San Fernando.
One of Canton or New York has to go 0-4 still.
Unfortunately, both games with huge implications (Canton @ New York and Willow City @ Big Inning) happen in week 18. How does this upcoming sim shake out in terms of playoff implications?
San Fernando is eliminated with any of the following:
Any loss.
Any New York win.
Any Willow City win.
Any Big Inning win.
Baltimore beating Tallahassee.
Baltimore or Tallahassee are eliminated with any of the following:
The loser of their head-to-head matchup is eliminated.
New York and Canton going 2-0.
A loss in their non-head-to-head game and any two of the following:
New York winning at least one game.
Canton winning at least one game.
Willow City winning both games.
Big Inning is eliminated with:
Any loss and New York and Canton going 2-0.
Two losses and either one of the following:
New York winning at least 1 game.
Willow City winning both games.
Willow City is eliminated with:
Two losses and New York and Canton going 2-0.

Vince, Pt. II
09-24-2019, 08:13 AM
Playoff scenarios are sadly basic at this point:
New York (12-4) and Canton (12-4) both clinch a spot in the championship series with a single win.
Willow City (10-6) is two back with two to play, and they are already eliminated from home field in the championship series since one of New York or Canton is guaranteed a win in the final game of the season by virtue of them playing one another. This is good news, however, because it means that at least one of the two teams is guaranteed a loss. Willow City still needs the loser of that 18th game to lose their 17th game as well, and here are the candidates:
New York (12-4) @ Baltimore (7-9)
NY - Christy Mathewson (4-2, 5.36 ERA)
BAL - Randy D. Johnson (3-1, 4.20 ERA)
Once 7-4 and looking strong, Baltimore has taken an absolute nosedive, losing their last 5 consecutive games. New York, on the other hand, has won 6 of 7, and the only loss in that stretch was by one run. The first time these teams met, the Knights crushed the Steamers to the tune of 9-0; they chased Jacob deGrom with 8 runs before he could complete the 2nd inning, and NY starter Ed Walsh went the distance for a 6-hit, 0-walk shutout. Now we get to see the other pitching matchup, which decidedly favors Baltimore, as Randy Johnson has been much better than Jacob deGrom, who was recently demoted to the bullpen.
Canton (12-4) @ Tallahassee (8-8)
CAN - Dwight Gooden (1-3, 7.14 ERA)
TAL - Steve Carlton (2-2, 6.44 ERA)
After stumbling out the gate to a 1-2 record, Canton has been on fire winning 11 of 13 games - and they've done it by an average run differential of 4.23, so these aren't exactly close games. Tallahassee has had a late-season run at the playoffs derailed by losing 3 of their last 5, officially eliminating them for playoff consideration just this past weekend. The first time these two teams matched up, Tallahassee was on the losing end of a 10-3 whooping - but this time they don't have to face the vaunted Chris Sale, drawing Dwight Gooden and his 7+ ERA. Unfortunately, they are countering with Steve Carlton and his 6.44 ERA against the number one offense in the All-Time League.
Things are looking grim for Willow City, as they not only need two losses from one of the leaders, but they themselves have to win both of their games, and that means getting through Clayton Kershaw, he of the 3.18 ERA in a league where the average ERA is 5.76.

Tell me about it!
Carlton Fisk and Ernie Banks have been such incredible disappointments. It's mostly small sample size shenanigans, but Fisk is a -15 OPS+. Fairly certain all here understand OPS+ already, but in case you don't 100 = league average. -15 is...insane.

In the baseball world full disclosure with the starting pitchers is an unwritten rule to disclose so I wanted to disclose beforehand that I am planning on pulling Gooden and moving him into the pen. Sale will start game #1 if he is rested(im not sure how many rest days he actually has before the playoffs start) and Newhowser will start game #2. Otherwise Newhowser will be starting game #1 followed by Sale.

If we were voting Id choose Wade Boggs or Rogers Hornsby for MVP and Clayton Kershaw for CYA(probably have to rename the award for this league:))

I will reset fatigue prior to game 1 as well. That should make it play out like the entire season with full rest for the odd number games.

The voting sounds like a great idea. I'll put something up for that.

My mid-draft predictions (https://forums.operationsports.com/fofc/showpost.php?p=3246476&postcount=275) were hilariously awful.

In all fairness in a short season like this there is a ton of randomness and it would have been hard to know the pitching was going to be such a non factor. I am curious as to what settings EF is using. I think 75 percent of the league is out hitting their normal averages while the pitchers seem to be playing in the juiced ball era x2. LOL

Mike Schmidt laughs at your juiced ball theory.
What a disappointment.

As an FYI. I'll be doing another league sort of like this but it will be 25 man teams with a longer schedule (closer to a normal schedule, depending on the number of teams). Just trying to work out the details for it.

As for the settings questions. I used current day as the time frame and imported the players using the default settings for importing historical players. Didn't change any of the player related settings other than turning off injuries. It seems that the game prioritized offense over pitching.

cmgdodgers, let me know your choice for the Kingdom Come: Deliverance key.
You can either take it for yourself, take it to give to someone or pass (in which case jbergey22 would get those options).

I’ll pass on the game, as much as I’d have good intentions of playing as
It looks great, it’d collect dust with many other steam games in my library.

It is much appreciated, but it really isnt my type of game. And like the others, I have several games I need to learn and play (CK2, Im looking at you).
I will pass, also, but thank you for offering it up.
