New player, overall really enjoying the game, even though there's quite a learning curve and lots I don't understand this does seem to be the best representation of actual football I've seen, little things like differentiating between NT, 1-Technique Tackles, etc, and differentiating between 34 olb and 43 old etc are really cool touches. Maybe later after more play time I can do a more detailed appreciation post.

Anyways, lots of questions overall but I'm doing my best to do my own research as much as possible and I've read the manual a couple times and also just trying to figure out by doing to some degree because, hey, that's half the fun.

Mainly right now I have a couple nagging questions about stats: does anybody know how pass defense percentage is calculated? I can't seem to figure out how the game arrives at the numbers it does for that. Another stat that I'm confused by is run play success - how does the game decide a run play is a success or not?

Sorry, one more non-stat question - the game manual states that the weak side outside linebacker is usually the one who is blitzed the most in 34 fronts, however I've noticed the AI usually puts my best rushing outside linebacker in at strong side outside linebacker. Is the manual correct and the AI is wrong? Or should I put my best pass rusher at strong side and ignore the manual?

"...a play that gains at least 40% of yards required on 1st down, 60% of yards required on 2nd down, and 100% on 3rd or 4th down." seems to be the standard definition.

Thanks. Does anybody know anything about the pass defense percentage stat?

CBs and Safeties you want to see close to or above 80%.

LBs you used to want to see similar levels of PD%, though perhaps a few percent lower than CBs. In this version, LBs seem to be seeing more passes calculated into their PD% so their numbers seem even lower than prior games. Above 76% seems to be the target now. Put another way, LBs with higher than 76% PD had a decent season, while those below 76% had a bad season. If they're close to or above 80% then they had a great season! If they're down near 70%, then you don't want them covering anyone anymore!
