I'm With Stupid (IWS) - historical spreadsheet

I decided to make sure all the IWS results are in one spreadsheet.

At this point (after 40 competitions) I've tried to (and have been able to) find all the (complete) results and all the questions (most of them with all given awsners as well.)

I haven't taken the time to reformat most of the copy and pasted info, except for the host name and I've reformatted some of the info of IWS 1 to 10.

The spreadsheet is currently located at my website at:

So far the zip file is smaller then 100kb and thus can be uploaded, though once it reaches over 100kb, I'll have to solve that problem some way...

So far no overall rankings.
I just added the #38 score, which were missing from the copy I originally uploaded.

I'd be interested in creating an overall leaderboard, which I think will not take too much time...

Hey, one can say he's the worst player ever, but there has to be some proof too, no? Besides, what's wrong at being the worst player in a contest to think "Stupid"?:)
That in mind, it seems impossible to finish at the bottom 3 for 19 out of all 40 comeptitions, especially since I joined "just" 35.

Seriously, are there any ideas for a scoring system to make an alltime scoring list?
What was the system used at the old site, Wade Moore did that one, right?

Sadly I have no access to the data from school (I compiled an all time rankings list yesterday). I do know that we have some people around who have won several competitions.
Alf and I are #2 and #1 on all time participation with 33 and 35 respectively.

Al right, no input on a ranking system, I'll do one myself then.

So what did I do?
I put the rankings of everyone in every competition in a spreadsheet.
After that I calculated a percentage score being 100% for winners and being the (particpants-ranking+1)/participants for others.
So, taking my ranking of my last participation as an example:
17th place amongst 19 participants =>
(19-17+1)/19 = (3)/19 = 15.789%
Then I summed up all scores for all 40 events.
Hosts get no points. Instead, they receive a bonus multiplier, based on the total number of events devided by the total # of events minus number of hosts.
So taking my single participation as an example:
I have around 836 points and 1 host in 40 events being played so far (with rounded numbers) =>
836 * (40/(40-1)) = 836 * (40/39) = 836 * 1.03 = 857

Side note: this ranking system favours people with many participations, as it does favour participation in IWSs with a lot of participants.

Now I know why I didn't want to rank this way, it favours people with only 1 (and succesful) participation.

Still, I think neither of the ranking systems is good enough.
I mean, the first makes me look good at #20, while I'm obviously not.
The second ranking has succesful one-day-flies a top, though succesfull others like TredWel, Masked and TRO show up where they belong.

Any ideas?
I mean, I have the data, all it needs is a formula that can be easlily copy'n'pasted 164 times.

Somewhere I think you should work in how one did compared to the winner....so if the winner had 100000 points and you had 50000, you score .5 (winner of course scores 1). Maybe then multiply that by the number of participants ('n') to get your score for that IWS. That way, those IWS's with more participants are weighted (as they should be), but relative success/failure is a little more exact as compared with calculating solely based on rank.

The alternative to above would be to score in relation not to the winner, but to the maximum number of points possible. Actually, this might be better, because you can win and still have a few clunkers for answers, but that might be offset by IWS's with more participants. That way if you scored 100% in an "easy" IWS (smaller 'n'), it may be equal to a 50% win in a "hard" IWS (large 'n').

I like the rankings where I am #5 and not the one where I am #97. The first ones rightfully award those who particpate regularly.

#13 overall, not too shabby. I always seem to be in the top three or four but never win the damn thing. Hopefully that will change someday...
