I just started working on a project for MnDOT that will require a few visits to Detroit Lakes. OK, so they have a Young Life camp and they advertise their liquor store on their official municipal web page (http://www.ci.detroit-lakes.mn.us/) . Anything else I should know?

Seriously, looks like a job well done. LOL. I missed that one! I had probably better take that one down eventually...

Well, actually there are less than 10 pictures in the whole lot that I took myself. That picture was probably taken by a stranger, since the girl whose camera it came from is in the picture.

OK. OK. Believe it or not, I’ve avoided getting angry at y’all this time. I realize that to y’all, she’s nothing more than a picture of a pretty girl with large breasts. Please know, though, that to me, she’s a sweet, insecure, hurting little girl who deals with a lot of emotional pain, some of which is a direct result of the way she looks. Against my better judgment , I’ll attempt to humanize “Stacy” (not her real name) a bit.

She’s pretty much looked like that since she was a 14-year-old Freshman (maybe even longer…that’s when I first met her). She’s now closer to 17 than 18, and will be a Senior in the fall. Without going into details, just know that she has a lot of painful stuff in her life that she has to deal with pretty much every single day. A couple of anecdotes:

1. This Spring, at a baseball game, a few of the guys in the stands took it upon themselves to count every time anyone turned their head or averted their eyes to look at her breasts when she or they would walk by. (The baseball stands at Tucker High are an extremely high-traffic area in the spring time, with tennis, soccer, baseball and track all going on very close by, outstanding burgers and grilled chicken cooking on the grill, and admission to the game being free. People walk in and out of the area on a very regular basis.) When they got up to “customer” number 100 (a middle-aged man), one of the guys got up, shook his hand, and declared loud enough for everyone nearby (including Stacy) to hear, “Congratulations!!! You’re the 100th person to stare at Stacy’s boobs today!!!” Suffice to say that the guy was not happy, and Stacy was utterly mortified.

2. Well, after that incident, I make an even stronger effort when talking to her to look her in the eye at all times, and nowhere else. Well, one afternoon at camp, my guys and I got into the hot tub, and a few minutes later, Stacy and a couple of her friends got in as well. She asked me several questions about the plans for next year (what trips we’d be taking, where and when we’d be having our weekly meetings, etc.) Well, of course she was wearing a bathing suit. It was very obvious that she’s pretty self-conscious about wearing a bathing suit. (A side note, based on looking at the pictures, my wife commented that she thinks that Stacy tries to pose to make her chest look smaller in photos. We both agree that she consistently looks larger in person than in pictures.) What made it so obvious that she was self-conscious was that every 3-4 seconds, she’d look down at her top, and about every other time she did that, she’d try to pull her top up higher. So, to get the picture, you’ve got Ben trying his best to avoid looking down, and Stacy, bless her heart, continually drawing attention downward by her obvious discomfort. Well, after a couple of minutes of this scene (I’m not exaggeration, she probably adjusted her top 10-15 times), she just blurted out something like: “Ben, I’m just embarrassed and feel helpless, and not even the other girls understand what I go through.” Then she actually started crying.

She’s seriously considering having reduction surgery before she goes off to college. I think she feels like she can “start over” then.

Going limp...

Anyway, on this "Stacy" thing, I think she probably should have reducation surgery. If not for appearance, for her health. Those things will cause back problems for her. And if she's been like that since 14, back problems might be in her future pretty soon.

Besidies, breasts like that will only attract a certain kind of guy. A kind of guy who finds this type of thing attractive. Typical geeks do not find breasts that large attractive. We are more of a slightly more than handful kind of crowd. So what kind of guy do breasts that large attract?

I'd like to sympathize, but, really, it could be worse. I'd rather have people staring at me because they find me attractive (or at least a part of my anatomy attractive) and be cursed with being a little self conscious about it than, say, be stuck with an obnoxiously large nose, leprosy, or some other unattractive feature that I couldn't hide.

Well, I know these girls are important to you Ben, so I was trying not to be insensitive. My "completely legal" post was intended from the point of view, that the pics of even the sub 18 girls were legal because they were fully clothed. It struck me as funny, this crowd flocking to a website chock full of teenage girls only to find it was not the least bit pornographic in nature. I thought the comment was funny, in retrospect I was wrong. Not the first time that's happened, won't be the last.

The two big boys y'all speak of both will be playing college football this fall. Andrew Childers (the one with the tattoo) will be at Samford University, and Donald "Shep" Shepherd (short black kid in the middle) will be at Maryvillle (TN) College. Three others in that picture are listed on rivals.com and two are very likely to receive scholarship offers as Seniors this year:

LB Andrew McKain (2nd from the left). He had the following writeup about him in March:
March 14, 2003
McKain Attracts Lofty Attention
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Todd Unzicker
UGASports.com

Tucker linebacker Andrew McKain (6-1, 220-lbs., 4.7) led Tucker in total tackles last year with 124.

"He is not the fastest guy in the world as far as our guys go," said head coach Bill Ballard, "but he is a sideline to sideline guy with good savvy for the ball."

McKain is the team's defensive leader on the field and off--in the classroom he holds a 3.64 GPA.

"He has been getting a lot of letters from Duke, Stanford, and Vanderbilt," said Ballard. "He likes the idea of going to a very academic school. His parents are very academically driven, and I expect he will end of at a school like one of those. He is also getting letters from Ivy League schools."

Note: UGASports.com does not expect that McKain will end up at Georgia, or any Southeastern Conference school (save Vandy), but included this story as a general interest on prospects from the State of Georgia.

FB/LB Jimmy Coleman (bottom left, favors Kobe in that pic) is also listed on rivals, but has no articles. He has been clocked at 4.5, and is about 6'0", 180 pounds. He was a Region Champion hurdler this year as well. Several smaller schools are talking to Jimmy, projecting him as a safety.

K Blake Harr (bottom right) led the county in scoring last year (no small feet considering our county boasts 20+ high schools, at least three of which were ranked in the Top 5 in the state). He'll probably be invited to walk on somewhere.
