Nothing like walking into your house at night and finding a hooded snake looking at you, even if it was a small one.

Fortuantly I was able to dispose of him safely.

And yes, I will be leaving my lights around my house for the next couple of nights incase there are any more around. I'd hate to step on one in the dark.

Safely, as in chopping the bastard's head off with a shovel, scooping him up, and tossing the remains in the neighbors yard?

Because that is how I would have done it.

I used a butcher knife, and I tossed him in a trash can (there are no neighbors, I live on a school campus) but that that was the general idea.

DD,

I take it that you and your mrs. will not be moving to malaysia anytime in the near future.

My girlfriend caught my cobra last weekend. Definitely wasn't a small one. It shot out venom, but she disposed of it safely.

I just told her your story, and we weren't planning to move there anyway, but the chances are slim to nil now.

Actually it is my second one that I found. The first one was about 4 years ago. I thought that it was just a racer, so I got a broom and tried to sweep it outside. It didn't like that idea and hooded up. that one was also small, just about a foot long

Of course my favorite story is when some of our senior guys caught a 6 foot cobra, killed it and then ate the heart raw. High school kids sure do some stupid stuff.

When I lived in El Paso out next door neighbors had a rattlesnake get into their house. The wife saw the snake but she thought that it was one of her son's toy rubber snakes. She was just about to pick it up and put it away when it started rattling. Apparently she was within a foot or two of it when she realized that it was real. Very lucky woman. She could have wound up like their dog, which the snake killed...

No snakes ever got into our house, luckily. Just the occasional scorpion (my brother and sister both got stung, but never me!) and one time a tarantula...

Actually, I love it. It is the best job that i have ever had. Unfortunatly, this is my last month here. I am getting ready to move bact to the USA, where I am going to be starting a new ministry with college aged missionary kids. I will miss Penang, but I will be nice to not have to worry about cobras, especially with my baby coming next month.

Sorry... cheap joke at your expense there, stkelly... anyhow, what church is sponsoring your mission?

The school directly hires its staff, but the school is run by the Christian and Missionary Alliance, Southern Baptists, Mission Aviation Fellowship and a couple of other missions.

As for our next ministry. We are starting up our own Non-profit Organization, so we will be spending the next year traveling around and trying to raise our support from where ever we can get it.
