I always wanted a really nice print or something, of the guy facing off with the T-72 in Tienamen Square.

Just hope you realise, that the man got beaten by the state police, taken out and shot in the head, and his family were sent the bill for the bullet......doesn't really inspire me in the same way.

I think that makes him all the more inspiring, not less. The man acted in defense of himself, of the other protesters, and in support of an idea. He thought all of them were more important than that tank bearing down on him. He may have died, but he won in every other way. I have no doubt that I'll remember him, and his actions for the rest of my days. I find his actions to be inspiring and heroic. Because an oppresive state killed him, makes his actions, and that image, no less so.

Do we know this to be true?

I'm not denying that this was a treatment given to many dissidents, but I'm not aware that this happened to the man in the famous photo.

Did you perhaps mean to say "possibly" in the statement above? Or is this what we know happened?
