I am a really bad speller. I will cut and paste most of my long posts into Word to spell check them before posting. Is there any chance that one of our resident board experts could find a spell check utility to add to the board, or is that pretty much impossible or too much trouble to be worth it?

That's funny - that's something that's been buried on our project list here at work for an eternity (not a high priority). I'd found a way to submit text from a textbox directly to the client's Word and back, but it only works in IE and obviously if you have Word, with some restrictions off.

You should have used an apostrophe there in "it's."
The "S" is capitalized, too.

IEspell for the Internet Explorer (if you use that) should do the trick as well:

Wouldn't it be great if every post *had* to be spellchecked before it went through? (Okay, I'm sure I'll only have like two people agreeing with me on that.) But man, this board would be about a thousand times easier to read!

Thing is, a simple spell checker won't catch the most common errors on this site - the "your dumb" and "there fault" and "I love the Giant's" stuff, where the errors are in usage, not technically spelling.
Alas, just playing the numbers (and knowing my proclivity to leave my typos) I've probably misspelled (or mis-typed) more words here than anyone else. *sigh*

The spelling/grammar checker that Word has would work for those mistakes also, wouldn't it?
Those mistakes you mention do bug me much more than technical spelling errors. And, it's kind of hard to take the writer seriously. It reminds me of this e-mail my brother wrote me once about being sad he wasn't with his girlfriend anymore. He said something like, "I just keep remembering what it was like b4." Up until then I was feeling really bad for him, but after I read that I couldn't pay attention to the sentiment of his message as much. And then I felt like I had to dumb my response down.
