Looks interesting and seasons only take 8 real time weeks so it moves pretty fast.

Lemme know......

It was really popular with the FOFC crowd several years ago. I joined up in a couple of leagues but it didn't really hold my interest for more than a couple of seasons. It seems like recruiting was very tedious, and eventually they started making it so people could make "donations" and then do things that non-donors couldn't do...

I started playing about 2 years ago. I enjoy it a great deal, but your mileage might vary.

I really enjoy the recruiting aspect of it - trying to identify which recruits will turn out to be good college players based on a limited amount of stats and not completely accurate scouting reports, as well as deciding which recruits to pursue based on your school's strengths and the recruits' preferences.

I also enjoy watching the players develop over 4 seasons, and the challenge of continuously re-assembling your team every season.

From a pure basketball strategy standpoint the game is a bit weak, but a good coach that recognizes the strengths and weaknesses of his team and understands how the game works can still have a pretty significant impact on how his team performs.

I have teams in League 1 (Providence) and League 9 (Sioux City).

I believe Chief Rum has a few teams as well...

Back when I started a number of people from FOFC had teams in League 8, including Solecismic, ez, morgado and others.

Had a League 8 team that made the Final Four about 11 seasons in (I was in it from the very beginning), and also a League 5 team that actually was a quite interesting story. My first year, I just did some goofing around with recruiting, but got lucky and hit on two of my big-time 'lottery' guys. I took that team the very next season to the Final Four (ala Fab 5 style). Then went Elite 8, Sweet 16, Elite 8, or something like that. Finally, the next season (or maybe one more after), after some legitimate recruiting, I took the team to the finals, and actually got the victory.

That was a little before Greensboro made the Final 4 (League 8 team). When I took Greensboro there, I'd built my whole team around an absolute stud home-town player. After he left my interest dropped off the map, and I stopped playing.

Regardless, 11 seasons x 9 weeks per = 100 weeks (or about 2 years), so I spent a formidable amount of time with the game.

For anyone who has free time to kill during the day, and likes basketball, most def go for it.

Our own HeavyReign is working on a college basketball sim which will have multiplayer. It's based on Fastbreak Basketball, my favorite sports sim ever. I hope many of you will support his venture, as he really knows what he's doing and is sure to make a great game. It should be released in July (but he's made no guarantees)

A number of FOFC'ers were in from the beginning of League 8. The FOFC crowd basically made it one of THE two toughest league to play (the other being the very first league, League 1). A number of us/them are still there. A few also migrated to League 1 as well.

A pretty decent game that amuses, if a bit limited.

Yeah, I still play simsports, although my interest has flagged a little. For the first time since the pay options, for instance, I didn't pay to upgrade my L8 or L18 teams. Actually interested to see how I handle it. :)

Anyway, it's a fun game, and while the recruiting can be tedious, as mentioned, it can also be fun, too, trying to find the sleepers and coming out with a winner.

I think you can really get into it for a while, but eventually your interest will die out. I have noticed that the game runs in cycles with a lot of people, and the different leagues are often not on the same cycle. L18, my first league, for instance, was once known as a backbiting league with a lot of arguments. Now it's considered one of the best. L8, as mentioned, was one of the toughest leagues around, but now, it's barely active (although I think the quality of coach is still strong--they just aren't as noisy as before).

L5 used to be considered the top league by many, but it has fallen off sharply. And I think that all of these leagues will head back up or down (whichever applies) in the future, too, as new people come in, and old people get tired of it, and so forth.

dola,

Watch for Heavy Reign's game. I had some computer problems, so I haven't been able to stay on top of it recently, but just a few weeks ago, his game looked really good. And that's before bugs were being ironed out and stuff--his game, IMO, practically started in testing as solidly coded as most others are at release.

In fact, now that I have a fresh install of Windows and a new hard drive, I think I'll head over there soon and see if I can still help out. :)

I found out about the site from this one and still actively coach in League 2.

The season just began and it will be my fifteenth. While never winning the NTT, I have made the 'big dance' in each of the last twelve seasons. Activity in the league and conference have gone up/down for quite some time. Rather cyclical. Still enjoy the game enough to make contributions for the cause.

BTW - Download a basketball viewer which enhances the in-game statistics if you watch the PBP. Makes a ton of difference.

Yea I worked with a guy to build the 'statylyzer' (worked with = gave him lots of ideas to program:)). I highly recommend it.
