This is horrible. He is easily my favorite Cub, and now he is out... His game is running, and with this injury that will not help out his career any. Damnit! This sucks. BTW I hate the Cardinals.

Goodwin went 3 for 3 tonight.
I still dont think the Cubs could win the NL Central.

I saw a great shirt at Wrigley this weekend, What's the difference between a dynasty and a wannabe? 280 miles!
I also loved the reaction I got from the Cub fan behind me who sat and berated the Cardinals all game long before I asked him which Cubs World Championship team was his favorite. :D

So the Cards are a dynasty? Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't it been 15 years since they won a championship?
Of course, my Astros have never won a World Series (or even a playoff series), but I'm not calling them a dynasty either...

Most World Championships for a NL team, last one was in 82. If the Yankees hadn't won one for 20 years, wouldn't you still call them a dynasty?

Not when the phrase "sad pathetic team trying to live off of yesterday's glory" comes to mind. :)
We've been using the description a lot on the Orioles websites...and the Wizards NBA sites, too. The Redskins sites, as well. Nobody has accused the Caps of that, though...no glory there to remember.
The area is just a black hole of sport, draining the vitality of everything connected with it. It's like living in the same area as Subby.

Fear not Cubs fans, the Cubs just purchased the contract of OF Trenidad Hubbard from Triple A Iowa

Yesterdays glory? It's not like the team has been in the second division the last several years.
Shannon Stewart is available....might be a good replacment
Cubbies have any pitching to trade?

I would call them a former dynasty. They haven't won anything in 20 years. Period.
My Cowboys are a former dynasty.
The Celtics are a former dynasty.
The Bulls are a former dynasty.
If you're not currently winning multiple titles, you can't be classified as a dynasty...

Especially a closer (though I'd take Cruz in a pinch ;) )

The Cubs have oodles and a half of pitching. I don't know that I would really want Stewart in center, though. But then, they do play in Wrigley.
As for Patterson, that majorly sucks. I can't call myself a fan of the kid since I've never followed him. But he seems tremendously talented and seems to be willing to put in the work to turn that talent into ability. This really sucks for baseball, in general.

With the Blue Jays in the hunt for at least the wild card, I don't think Shannon Stewart is available. I heard that they pulled him and Lidle off the market, although still might trade Lidle in the right deal.

Before the season, most people thought the Cubs had improved quite a bit but weren't quite ready yet. Then, due to a pathetic NL Central, they find themselves in contention. People get excited and think "this is the year" and forget the overall plan. I keep thinking...1)even if the Cubs make the playoffs, the chance of them getting past the first round is slim and 2) I hope they don't give up anyone too promising for THIS season. Like I said they are not ready. They are probably playing at about the clip I thought they would (around .500). They need to make more long term improvements before getting too crazy about NOW.
Patterson should be ok. I hope his speed isn't affected tremendously but I think over the next few years, his average and power numbers will increase dramatically. Would love to have his speed, but if he brings solid power, average and defense to the table, I'll take it.

Stewart huh? Yes, maybe the Cubs could trade one of their white pitchers for him, he would be better when it's cold and the roof is open in Toronto.

Well, I like Patterson, I think he's a good player, but, his loss is going to hurt the Cubs. I'm not reveling in his injury either and just want to say that. I do not have a problem poking fun at Baker after his stupid ass comments however.

Stewart is definatly available. To stay in the hunt for the wild card the Jays need a pitcher more than th need Stewart.Stewart was out for 15 days and Reed Johnson filled in more than admirably while he was gone,He filled in so well they had a hard time putting Stewart back into the line-up.
Stewart is a FA at the end of the season and they cannot afford to re-sign him.He will be on a train to somewhere no matter what before the end of the season.
