This has been fun to follow. A couple of quick observations:

1) If the Broncos have scored 173 points, but have given up 202, I don't think they'll be 6-3. I know it CAN happen. I just don't think it would with this team. Either the offense will be dynamic and average 22-24 points per game, or the team will finish .500 or below and be out of contention. (Only team to hit .500 last year giving up more points then it scored was Buffalo, and that was a slim margain)

2) The Dolphins averaging 30 points a game? This is a team that scored 30 or more only 4 times last year. Once was against the Lions and once against the Chiefs, we won't count those. :) :)

3) After 9 games, the Eagles are giving up a full TD more than they did last year. During the past three seasons, their high in points given up has been a hair over 15. In this, the Eagles are giving up over 22 points per game. The last two full regular seasons have seen them give up 22 points or more 3 times in 32 games. (Hugh Douglas means more than I first thought) :)

4) On the other side, we have the Saints giving up just over 14 points a game. That's 10 points better than last season's 24. Last year they held only one opponent to under 15 points in a game. The Carolina Panthers in the last week of the regular season. The other 15 games? They gave up 20 or more every week.

5) The Cardinals 10.33 points per game average would be the worst average over the past 3 seasons by close to a full field goal. (last year's Texans) They would be nearly a TD a game worse than the Carolina Panthers of last season. This in a division with 3 very questionable and very thin defenses.

The great thing about the NFL is that all of this could really happen. :)

I think it's funny to watch the perception vs. reality factor. I would assume most people feel the Saints have upgraded their defense greatly, while the Cardinals have lost too much offense to be a factor.

The problem with both perceptions is that in this it's turned the Saints into the second best defense in the NFL (highly unlikely) and that the Cardinals have become the worst offensive team any of us have seen in over a decade (even more unlikely)

One last perception for the heck of it: Most people view the Titans as a very low scoring team. In this set of predictions, they are averaging 17 points per game. This is 4 points lower than they have averaged in the past three seasons. They averaged 22 points per game last year. I think their offense is even more dynamic this year with a true backup RB and a potential game breaking WR.

It'll be interesting to see how this ends up. :)

Plummer isn't the problem, an aging O-line and a weak defense is the problem. Denver as always will be competitive, but that team just isn't on the same level with the elite teams in the league. Plummer is one of the best things Denver has right now.

Not saying I think San Diego is either, but between the two, The Chargers are the better team.

in each of those games they scored 30+ in the defense gave them the ball over and over in great field position. however, that defense, and this years defense, are like black and white.

I just don't see them being dominant without that stifling defense this season.

they're still better than the Broncos :D

Observations after Week 12:

- The Dolphins have more wins than all of last season already by the picks and are 4-0 in a division that they went 2-4 last season.

- The Jets would have to win out to match last season;s record both overall and division.

- The Steelers are averaging allowing almost a touchdown a game less than last season.

- The Browns, a playoff team from last season, have already lost 9 games.

- The Bengals have more than doubled last season's win total and are allowing more than a touchdown less per game.

- The Titans, an 11-5 team last season, would have to win out just to reach 9-7.

- The Texans would have to allow 10 points or less per game the remaining 5 games to allow near the same total as last season.

- The Chiefs have already matched their win total from last season.

- The Chargers are 30 points scored away from last season's total.

- The Lions have doubled last season's win total.

- The Packers, a 12-4 team from last season, have already lost 6 games.

- The Saints would have to allow about 40 points per game the rest of the season to match their points allowed from last season.

- The 49ers have almost reached last season points scored total.

- The Cardinals are averaging about 6 points less per game.

- Only the two top seeds scored more than 100 more points than they allowed last season. There are 5 teams that are on that pace.

- The lowest +/- for a team over .500 was +24. There are 3 teams over .500 that are a minus, including one a -60.

actually if you look back a few years you'll find a series of major wipings handed to pitt by the lowly bengals IN pittsburgh. For some reason home field does not correlate to wins in this rivalry.....

Next week gold101 looks to get his first win with either the Rams or Falcons. One of them should give him a win.

RendeR looks to drop below .500 with a pick of the Bengals. His points missed should really take a hit.

albionmoonlight will also be looking for his first win but picks of the Chiefs and Texasn may not help with that.

Syrinx is looking to stay unbeaten with a pick of the Redskins. If the Patriots continue to play like the past couple weeks, that will be tough. Who really knows what the real Redskins team is as well.

VPI97 will need the Eagles to get their first win of the season to move above the .500 mark. They will need to return to the Eagles of the past to do that.

EagleFan (me) picked the Vikings over the 49ers. Nothing seems to be pointing to that not happening so far. A win would put me over .500.

Rich1033 makes his first pick of the season, and I believe only, by picking the Titans on the road over the Steelers. I think the Steelers edge this game out at the end.

Jon makes his first pick of the season, and I also believe only, with the Chargers over the Raiders. I don't know if either team wants to win this game so who really knows.

tucker342 hopes to even his record at .500 with a pick of the Jets over the Cowboys. The way the Cowboys played last week in Giant Stadium and the Jets lack of an offense will make this a much better game than expected. Look for a late score to be the deciding factor.

TheLionKing is looking to go 3-0 with a pick of the Broncos over the Lions. I can't see any reason why he won;t hit 3-0.

JeeberD is looking to rebound from his loss this week of the Packers losing to Arizona. He picked the Saints over the Colts. He may be hard pressed to win this one as the Saints have not looked good while the Colts have begun to look like a team to take seriously in the AFC.

SplitPersonality1 is looking to even out his record at .500 with the Packers over the Bears. I find it hard to have much faith in a team that just lost to the Cardinals, especially in Chicago on a Monday night. I think he could be looking at 1-3 after this week.


Overall it doesn't look like a good week for the FOFC selections.

VPI97 moved above .500 last week with the best pick of the season, missing by just 1 point. He is going with the Chiefs and the Falcons. This looks like a 1-1 week unless the Falcons realize they are supposed to be a good team and the Vikings realize that they aren't supposed to be one.

DolphinFan1 picks against his team and goes with the Giants. He'll be dropping back to .500 but will like the results as Ricky Williams runs through the Giants' defense.

I went with two picks with the Panthers and the Patriots. I see this as a 1-1 week. The Titans looked very good last week and I thing think they may be too much for the Patriots.

Syrinx puts his 3-0 mark on the lne with a pick of the Raiders. I can't see the Bears pulling this out, they look awful so far. The Raiders will squeak by as they are not the same team as last year.

Travis makes his first pick of the season with the Seahawks. This will be a test of just how good they really are but I can;t see them winning in Green Bay. The Seahawks have a history of never getting to the next level.

TheLionKing went with the 49ers in a big way as he puuts his 3-0 mark on the line. He is looking at a blow out but I don't think these 49ers are that good. I think he'll get a win but his point total will take a hit.

albionmoonlight picks the Redskins. Having lost 4 out of 5 to Philly and with Philly desperately looking to get back to .500 I think he'll be dropping back to .500 this week. Donovan has started to find himself again and the Redskins will again realize they are just an okay team.

gold101 looks to get back to .500 with a pick of the Steelers. I think the Steelers will jump back from a humiliating loss o the Titans this past week with a good performance and send him to .500.

tucker342 takes the Buccaneers on Monday night. This will be a great game and will show if the Colts are for real. This one is too close to say for certain but I think the Buccs defense will make a play that will win this one for them.

You know, after the first 3 weeks I might have agreed with you. But check this out:

Every game for the last 13 years, the bengals have found a way to lose. They came to the same point this weekend against the brownies. Kitna, instead of throwing the pick for a td, threw a 55 yard bomb to tie the score.

That one play may well go down as the turning point for this team. The developed trust in each other and confidence that they could make the right play at a critical time.

I'm betting sunday against the bills is going to be a tight ballgame. Spikes will want to show his abilities against his old team, neither side will have a running game , although the bengals backup RB's are far better than the bills.

My own pick for this is Bengals 31 Bills 28.
