I have always been intrigued by the Sicily Campaign. It's like a little self-contained nugget of World War II era warfare - air & naval power, amphibious landings, airborne, logistics, Patton, Monty, Germans & Italians, drama at the Straits of Messina. Fascinating stuff.

I did research on Husky as part of a curriculum in military studies. Since then it has been one of my favorite topics in military history. Not only for the battle itself, but because of its importance to the conduct of the war. Although I agree that the Itallian campaign was mostly a sideshow, the lessons Sicily taught the Allies went a long way towards making the Normandy invasion a successful one.

One of those Campaigns that was instrumental for the Allies in winning the war, but you never hear about in classes.

Thanks Fritz:)
