Ping: Marc Vaughan Re: Cannot load

Hey Marc (or anybody else who may be able to answer my question)- I recently was playing a game of CM4 (latest version) and the game froze on me so I had to close-alt-delete and restart my computer. After restarting, I tried to load up my saved game but now I get an error message stating that the saved game cannot load. Any ideas on how to possibly recover my saved file? Have I lost everything? Thanks for your help.

You probably lost everything especially if the crash occured while the game was saving.

FYI.... I believe Marc and company are in Sweden this weekend celebrating one of the Collyer brother's wedding (Paul and Ov Collyer being the two guys whom originally created CM), so you may have to wait until Monday before Marc responds.

I am in agreement, it sounds like your save game is now corrupt, and the odds are being able to use it again are not good.

If the 'freeze' happened while the game was saving then I'm afraid its likely the save game is beyond repair (as part of it will simply be missing) - if it didn't then I'd be happy to take a look at it if you can get it to me in some fashion (email [email protected] to discuss this if you want to give this a go).

I unfortunately cannot guarentee success with repairing save games, however I can normally repair around 60% of save games I recieve in this fashion.
