Yesterday, Japan beat Mexico in the Football World Cup final.
That's NFL style football folks !

For the record, Germany beat France for 3rd place.

Wonder where the US of A were...

What! USA wasn't included? I'm guessing that the USA would have won:D

I really have no clue, I just read a very brief news report about it today in a french sports newspaper, and thought it was pretty funny...

I heard that the team the U.S. was going to send, Anderson Middle School, was unavailable due to prior bake sale commitments ;)

No no you have it all wrong.
It was the practice squad for Anderson Middle School that was supposed to go, and they couldn't come because they had to study for their home economics exam.

Maybe the US sent a team that thought they just had to turn up at the competition to be crowned the winners, but when they got there they got humped by the likes of Argentina and Spain, just like the basketball team?

Seriously we could send a high school team and win this thing.

SD's Tucker HS could probably beat those guys handily.

The UTEP team would have come in last place... :(

That's interesting. Imagine if it was taken seriously and NFL players got involved. Which NFL players are foreign born and would be able to lead their countries? Who would finish 2nd?

The only foreign born players I can think of are kickers.

Aren't there a few big African players about? Guys born in Africa but raised over here?

Why are you listing Canada? States don't count.

Yeah I followed it a bit.
France has a pretty good team with 5 starters playing in NFL Europe and one of them -who didn't not play the semi finals unfortunately- (Marc Angelo Soumah) who has just signed an NFL contratct with the Cleveland Browns.

CB Davis Sanchez, San Diego
G Bobby Singh, San Diego

Both are currently playing for the Calgary Stampeders in the CFL.

Sanchez will definitely be back in the NFL and would have played this season but San Diego gave him an offer and he had the "audacity" to look for something better which caused San Diego to pull the deal. He's man-handling receivers up here and QBs are reluctant to throw in his direction. I'm pleased he signed with us but he won't be here beyond maybe another year.

I'm surprised at how many foreign born players there are in the NFL. I still think we would have won:D

I guarantee you that 99% of the players listed under Germany are Army brats born in Germany. Since they have always been American citizens, they would still play for the US (though they could never be elected President)...

Patrick Venzke is German and only got into football because he was an exchange student in high school.

This list of players is from the training camp stage of the 2002 season, I presume.

Venzke returns to Europe every season to play in the NFL Europe.

I wonder if they did a competition breaking it down into states which state would win? Texas, California and Florida would have to be the favorites.

Isn't there a vietnamese player or two? Dat Nguyen? OR maybe he is just of Vietnamese descent.
