Anyone else watch this show on VH1?
I'm a bit too young to remember the 80s (born in 1983) but for some reason I catch myself watching this show all the time.
Some of the people they have on the show (Michael Ian Black, Hal Sparks) can be pretty damn funny.
I hear they're coming out with a version for the 70s sometime in August, should be interesting.

My only issue with decade shows is culture trends never seem to break on the "0" years.

They've been showing these a lot. I think they started about a month or two ago. I like them. I am a little too young to remember the early 80's (born in 77), but they are a good flash-to-the-past type show. When they make fun of themselves for following the trends of the day is pretty funny. :)

Michael Ian Black is hilarious. He and another guy on I love the 80's (Michael Showalter) used to be on an mtv sketch comedy show called the State that was pretty funny. It's not as good as Mr. Show, but probably my second favorite sketch comedy show. This site http://www.statemedia.net/state.php has all of their skits available to watch, although you have to watch on really tiny quicktime screens. I also highly reccomend the stella videos on the site.

I wonder ten years from now if they will come out with a 90s one...I could see it now, baggy pants, presidential bj's...ah fun times fun times.

True, but when you look at a decade as a whole quite a few cultural trends certainly do tend stand out as solely existing somewhere within the 10 year span. There may be a little overlap on the fringes, but for the most part it works.

And just showing videos like they did during the 80s must be considered a really bad idea, since people might actually like it.

That's what VH1 Classic is for, of course! Just lilke MTV2...

MTV2 isn't even all videos anymore.
MTV should change their name to Reality TV...it would be more accurate.

Same with me, but mainly because it's all they ever show.
I rarely see BTM anymore..
They must be working on Behind the Music: Behind the Music

The 80's show is great, I don't remember much before '84 as I turned 7 that year, but everything afterwords is great.

Now since I got that out of the way, is this the show that the spend 1 hour on each year? If so, I caught some of it last year and thought it was excellent (most of my college years were in the 80s).

I was going to make some comment about the 80's not living up to your good ol' days. ;)

To an extent, I still live in the 80s.

I guess it is true when MTV says more people watch MTV and VH1 since they stopped showing videos all day. I never would have believed that people would tune in more to "Music Television" and "Video Hits 1" when they actually abandoned the music and videos. Go figure.

The 80's were the best time to be a teenager!!!
I have watched those shows so many times I think I know the joke lines by heart on some of them. Though I must say I cannot stand the Dice guy, he annoys the shit outta me just as much now as he did back in the day.
