Real49ersFootball career (FOF2)
I just made a little check on my main career and saw this funny thing among former #1 overall Draft picks :

(It happens that the Seattle Seahawks held the #1 pick three times over a four year span...)

2014 - DE - Leon Weber - Boise State
2015 - RB - Mario Lyle - Texas Christian
2016 - DE - Artie West - Houston
2017 - DE - Kenny Peterson - Southwest Louisiana

3 times in 4 years they used the #1 pick on a Defensive End !!!
Of course, you only have two starting DEs so one of the #1 picks (high salary obviously) had to ride the bench.
the AI, not that stupid finally, understood that having a #1 pick on the bench was too much and ignited a trade...of the latest DE (Kenny Peterson) !

so, why use the #1 pick on a third DE when after making him spend his rookie year on the bench, you decide to trade him prior to his 2nd NFL season...and keep the two former #1 picks DEs ??

funny thing is, at the beginning of the 2026 season (this is where I currently stand) -so 9 years after the 2017 Draft that produced #1 pick Kenny Peterson : NONE of the Defensive Ends remain on the Seahawks roster !

Both Leon Weber AND Artie West spent only 6 seasons under a Seahawk uniform...talk about disapointement(s).

for the record, in 2026, the Seattle Seahawks used their first round picks (#18) on a stud Defensive End (Gabe Carpenter) and the guy has the potential to be JUST AS GOOD enough BETTER than any of the three #1 overall picks they had a decade ago ;-)

Yup, that's the AI drafting in FOF2.
I've seen team invest 4 consucutive top5 picks on wide receivers.
The AI's draft picks don't make sense in the first round, though from the second round and on, they seem to go for need (gaps in the roster), rather then the least needed super star.

I'm slowly losing faith in FOF2, the stupid backup punter for #5 pick can be reversed, but this?

I would do this if I was playing an "All-Air" team.

dola

then again, it is a real feat to be a bottom 5 team 4 years running.

Next, we'll hear complaints that there are quality cornerbacks and linebackers falling through the draft.

Geez, it's like this is the same game that was out four years ago!

It's been so long since I've played FOF2, I can barely remember the problems with the game back then.

Perhaps the AI doesn't take potential into account when drafting and see a couple of bad DE's on the team?

Muchos Gracias, DK

That was inspired by somebody clueing me and everybody else in on the Resource Hacker tool and then 3ric making some helpful color scheme modifications. Our FOFC member 'wheels' definately hooked us up with a great looking scoreboard.
