Turns out mom was a real money grubbing biatch though. Oh well.

The rest of the story. (http://www.sptimes.com/2003/07/17/State/Squeezing_a_spat_for_.shtml)

Of course, the neighbour comes across as even more of an ass than she did before.

Not as exciting as before. But damn that neighbor is a bitch.

Really?

I don't know about that. We really don't know the entire story of the carport radio but it sounds like this 59 year old womans father, who is at least in his 70's or more likely 80's, is turning the volume up a bit too loud for the first womans case so she calls the police. The guy may not be in full control of his faculties and caring for him and watching his every move can really cause some major stress.

The line about the volume already being turned down when they get there leads me to believe the woman does realize the problem and gets to it as soon as she can. She doesn't necessarily need a reminder every flippin time.

The neighbor, who if she'd even be the tiniest bit concerned with anything but her own selfish desires could be a bit more understanding but nothing in the story leads me to believe she has that in her. She's a biatch.

So what does the neighbor do? She asks if they have a permit and the rude woman says no and they don't need one. Well, they do and the second woman tells her she's calling the police, not to have her busted but to explain the law to her. She even has the courtesy to tell the mother this. I just don't see how she comes off as an ass.

If she wanted to be an ass there are far better ways she could have gone about it.

I'm with Axxon on this one -- I think the neighbor is getting an undue bad rap here.

And frankly, I'm not the least bit surprised to find out the backstory on the situation.

That may be, but she is in the right.

If a neighbour's stereo is playing far too loud, and they refuse to listen to you, what else are you supposed to do?

The neighbor was also in the right when the lemonade stand went up without the proper permit. Tit for tat really here.

This isn't about a bunch of partiers making noise at all hours of the night. This is about an old man who turned the radio on too loud a reported 6 times in 10 months. Out of those six the volume was already lowered before they got there on some of them. It's not like she was being an ass or anything and the other neighbor had to know it.

Is anyone else disappointed that a friggin' kid needs a permit to run a lemonade stand?

Why were her radio speakers on the Porch Anyway, was she actually outside listening to them.

I have speakers on my Deck in the back yard. But the music is not coming out of them unless I'm actually back there.

You have obviously never lived next to a loud neighbor who has refused to be considerate.

"It's been a wild ride, and Avi might just get college paid for out of it," Shaw said. Why do I have a bad feeling that little Avi will be heading to college right after she's finished suing her high school to make her valedictorian?

My former next-door neigbors would play loud, thumping music late at night in their house, but because of the close proximity of our houses and how sound carried, we could hear it in our bedroom at night. We always wondered what the hell they were doing over there, sounded like a disco. Oh, and it always seemed like the same song was playing over and over....

Well, as I found out eventually, my neighbor was a Washington Redskins cheerleader, who was apparently practicing her routines. ;)

Do what I do. Burn their house down. :)

The mom is obviously a bitch. This is not some group of college kids. It's an elderly man that needs the radio a little louder so he can hear it. And the way she's basically selling her daughter to get money...yeah, I'm sure all of th emoiney she's now getting is going towards her college costs.

But I think the neighbor is a bitch too. I mean, it's one thing to be annoyed with a neighbor and want to get them back. I'm all for revenge. It's fun. But she brought a 5 year old child into their little fued. That's just not right.

I could understand that point, if the cops were coming out their daily, but this is 1. The middle of the day. 2. Only a few times over several months. 3. The story made it seem like everytime they turned the radio on, the mother called the police.

The point is, I know what its like to have neighbors that harass you. We have a neighbor that has called city services twice on us in the last two years. Once, for not having a metal shield around the overhang on the top of our room. And once more for tree limbs sticking out into the street.
