Guys- In my current CM4 game I am ranked #1 in the English Third Division. I have several players who are "feeling jaded," yet they have long-term contracts. I'm not sure how to stop them from feeling jaded, any ideas?

I think a couple of hookers in their hotel rooms might do it, as long as they're not planning on coaching Alabama anytime soon.

Jaded means they are tired. Give them a rest.

Jaded means that the player isn't happy with the current situation at the club - generally it means he's being overplayed but can also mean:

"Feels the club relies upon him too much"
"Is having trouble handling the pressure of first team football"
"Feels that he needs to be rested"
"Is having trouble motivating himself"
"Worried that he is past his peak"

(Strings taken from the forthcoming EP#5 patch where I've clarified this aspect of the game)

Cool - good item to expand on, Marc. I think the added detail will be helpful... there's a pretty big difference among some of those.

Thanks, Marc. I'm glad to see that those new strings will be added to the EP#5 patch, as they will only further the realism of the game. Thanks for the clarification.

Wow, it seems that FOFC is infiltrating the CM universe!

I started a new game after patch 5 and played over a year. I have had players be jaded, but I have never seen one of these strings. Are they really there?

I had a message from one of my jaded players asking to leave the club because I took him out of a game we were winning 3-0. He basically said he felt bad and that if I was going to let him play first team football, keep him in the whole time. I had never got that prior to EP5 so maybe that is what was meant.

Will be re-testing the displaying of these strings tomorrow (sorry, would have been last week - but I've been ill).

Man, I really wish I enjoyed soccer. This game sounds so awesome.

Why can't we clone Vaughn and train the clones to enjoy football (American) and baseball more? :)

Too much birthday cake? Or have you been drinking too much now that Bobby has left Brighton? :)

Not the problem. Finding a developer that would pay as many people as they have working on CM is. How many people do you have just working on this one program, Marc? It has to be pretty close to the number that works on Madden.

Swaggs: You may still enjoy it. I didn't know diddly about soccer until I started playing the game, and playing the gave me a greater appreciation for the sport. I had a blast watching the World Cup last year.

I'd say for every player out there that has trouble getting into the game because they don't like/understand soccer, there is another player that has absolutely loved the game even though they know next to nothing about the game.

You might want to give the demo a try. It lets you play six months, and that is a long enough amount of time to give you a good feel for how the game plays. Be patient at first, though. It might take a couple of tries before the whole thing "clicks".

Marc: I hope you feel better!

Swaggs, I knew nothing about soccer at all when I got this game. I played thru one season and put it down for about a month waiting for some patches. When they came out I played it again seeing if I could get it and I did. Now I love soccer having never really watched a game. I check soccernet.com everyday to look at transfers and eagerly await Lincoln City's schedule to start up this season and for them to make a run at Division 2. I am now a soccer nerd...

My eternal dream is that a American football equivalent to CM is created. How cool would it be to follow a high school player through college and onto a HoF pro career?

I was doing the draft import feature from NCAA 2003 into Madden 2003, and realized once a player is drafted, you can't see his original college anymore.

I think if this game was at the same level of playability and realism as CM is, the game would be huge in the US.

But, it's still just a dream at this point.

Whoever comes up with a 'Football Universe' type game ... NFL, AFL, CFL, WFL, NCAA, CIS, High School... to dream but I'm sure it will eventually happen, later than sooner.
