View Full Version : CM4: The Super Pack

Okay, I was just wondering if anyone here can help me with this addendum to CM4 that was done by an enterprising fan. For those of you who don't know, apparently it's a bunch of logos and facepacks and a whole lot of other stuff to make the CM experience even better.

They couldn't have possibly made this more difficult to implement. The description of it and goings ons at SIGAMES forum is in the midst of a 35-page thread, I shit you not.

You have to wade through about the first ten pages or so before you get to a download that works. Then, get this--the download is 226 MB! Now, I can handle that (I have broadband), but, jeez, that's a lot.

If you read on, though, you discover there are errors with it, and other fixes are being put up by other people. You can't tell what's supposed to work with what. By the time I am discovering this, we're at Page 17--about halfway through the thread. Who knows what else could eb wrong with the thing? Further making things murky is the fact that at the end of the thread, some sort of soon-to-arrive patch is mentioned (for the Super Pack, not EP5), which tells me there is something wrong with it somewhere.

On top of that, the 226 MB is broken down into almost 9000 fiels with about 17-18 readme's, and my understanding from the gist of what I was able to follow is that even they don't always properly explain how to do it, so there are links to other CM adjusting threads by SI that properly explains it.

Do you have a headache just reading this? Cuz I think I'm getting a pounder!

I would give up on this completely, but it seems to be highly recommended by lots of people. So I thought I would ask if any of you have gone through all this and set up this monster and had any advice as to just how in the hell to do this (add all the appropriate files in the right places), how to find out why a patch is needed without burning a whole night reading that frickin' thread, if the Super Pack itself is indeed worth all this effort, and, as a bonus, why the hell someone hasn't made an effort to make this whole thing easier (like a simple stickied thread with a download link, for instance, or better yet, with clear and concise instructions).

Ugh.

I downloaded it, but only took some of the pictures out of it. I have already collected quite a bit on my own, and found the download very disappointing quality of picture wise.

You can check out this thread (http://community.sigames.com/1/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=21019056&f=717198912&m=1101960536) for help on where the background pictures should go.

and this one (http://community.sigames.com/1/OpenTopic?a=tpc&s=21019056&f=717198912&m=2631917556) for logos/facepacks/and competitions.

I downloaded it, put the files into my graphics folder... and it's working great so far.

I sort of had to figure it out, but you have to create a folder within your CM4/Data/Graphics folder called "pictures". Then take the players folder from the face pack folder, and the club, competition and screen folders from within the logos folder and place them in that "pictures" folder.

Then you take the folder from the super pack called backgrounds and put it into the main graphics folder, overwriting the previous one (Probably be a good idea to back it up).

I didn't bother with the menubars, because I already have one I like.

It really is a nice addition though, especially the player pics, because I get to see what a lot of these guys look like that I've been playing with forever. The club badges are nice too.

Hope that helps a little, any more questions just ask.

EDIT: Messing with the bolds.

Not saying you are wrong, Scholes, but I did it differently.

I just cared for the pictures, so I selected all files with "Graphics" in the path (defined in the zip file) and extracted them into the CM4 directory. That put them all in the correct directories.

Well that certainly seems easier....

Thanks, guys. I went and did this, and am now checking things out.

See, now was that so hard? How come they can't figure this out at the SIGAMES forums?

Once you get the pack working, its great...and I don't think the quality of the pictures is all that bad either. Is it is good as they used to be in older versions of CM? Probably not, but when you think that this was just a guy doing this on his own, I find it hard to criticize at all. Not to mention, they add a lot more variety to the game as well.

I don't really like going to the SI forums ,so does anyone know what leagues are included. Mainly, I just want American photos, as thats all I'm interested in playing. (Plus a lack of HD space)

It wasn't just a guy doing it on his own, he just took azll the files available on cmskins and put them in just one file (e.g : the Stade Rennais face pack and most south american non playable leagues logos were made by me)

Yeah, I know, but he put them altogether into one convenient file, and they had to spend a lot of time getting it to work correctly, and put up with a lot of unnecessary bitching from people about it.

Anyone know where we can find this broken down into smaller files (less than 100 megs per file)?
