Experience: Series vs. Cup

Do you get more experience as a player for participating in a series game or a cup game, or is it the same?

Straight from the rule book:



Experience:
The players get their experience through playing leauge matches, National Teams matches and friendlies (national training games give the players about half the experience as a international friendly does).

All league games give the same amount of experience, regardless of division.

Cup matches give about the double amount of experience, compared to league games.

So now with the experience thing, will more players use starters in cup than before, to the detriment of the first couple of series games?

Yes, under two circumstances:

The team thinks its "B" team is good enough to win in league play.

or

The team knows it is doomed in it's series and goes for the experience and money that's in the Cup.



I personally will be playing my "A" team during the Cup next week, but that's only because I have a walkover:)




EDIT: Didn't read the second part of your question. I guess that just depends on what they feel like doing, if it's worth it or not.

Except for the position I am training, I play my starters in both the cup and league to maximize experience. The increased risk of injury is negated by the increased importance of experience for my team.

In rond three of the cup (assuming I get there), I will play my A team trainees in the cup and not in the league match to get the experience sboost ince I also have a walkover this weekend.

Alas in my case, I will be walked all over by Div 3 religee Tikkun.

I've always played my starters - especially for non-training positions - in both unless I know I'm losing one or the other for sure. I don't know how the situations are with other folks but, for my team, every extra game I can get in the cup is just a little bit closer that I get to being out of debt. The gate money - even at 1/3 as a road team - is far more than whatever I can get out of any friendly.

One thing is for sure . . . you don't get to PIC many Cup games anymore . . . even if your pretty damn good. More people will be playing their starters in cup matches to get the xp.

Exactly. I just PICed my 2nd cup game (losing 2-1)... No more PICs for me.

As for matches is it worth it to go internation freindly to get the experience vs. the cost? or is dependent on arena size of the opponent? any advise on this is helpful to the Noob.

I believe that the "hard numbers" work out something like this:

Domestic Friendly Match: 1 pt. (the lowest possible exp. award)
International Friendly Match: 2 pts
League/Qualification Match: 10 pts.
National Cup Match: 20 pts.

As you can see, friendly matches are pretty inconsequential when it comes to player experience. However, if you are of the "every little bit" matters mentality, then international friendlies are worth it. You also tend to get a slightly larger gate draw for international matches, but at the lower levels, this is often not enough to make up for the $6,000 travel fee.

I don't know how it's been for others, though.

I was wrong. DK was right. I mixed up the 1/5th exp between international/domestic.
