Ok, i have a hp pavilion ze1115, i bought this thing last april and just got it back from "service" for the 3rd time! All 3 times the main problem was the power jack connector burning out and loosening up to the point that you can not charge the computer. All 3 times comes back fixed and fine. But this 3rd time i had other problems.....there has been a few problems with the mouse pad getting choppy and the scroll buttons not working, this after the mouse pad was replaced (without me ever saying anything about it or asking or it) on the 2nd service. Also, since i got it back from the 2nd time the stupid thing locks up, sometimes 50 times a day, sometimes not for 1-2 days....not just in windows but it will even do it while booting. I told HP all this before i sent it in for service number 3 and i just got it back from them an hour ago. Sooooooooooooooo.....it has already locked up twice on me, and this is driving me nuts!! I looked at what they did at the service center and after replacing the power connection my computer passed ALL tests, including virus scan and the test for my mouse. So i had been thinking the lock ups had been caused by the mouse pad but now i have no idea................can anyone help with some suggestions before i decide to call up HP and probably have to send it back to them again? Thanks

I would send it back, and demand that you get a new laptop for your trouble. I thought most companies have a three strikes and it gets replaced rule.

I think it might well be the mouse pad, seeing as the same thing has started to happen to my hp pavillion - I'll be doing my stuff and suddenly it all seems to freeze up. If I hit ctrl+alt+del I can still open and close programs, etc, so it makes me think that it isn't the computer itself ... I had the same problem with the computer refusing to recharge - they ended up replacing the motherboard, or something like that. Pissed me off, because my computer's a graduation present from my parents.
Yeah, so, just try and get them to fit in a(nother) new mouse pad. Let me know how you get on, because this whole freezing thing is really starting to get on ym nerves as well.

Uhmmm....well lets see, my mouse will get choppy then stop all together sometimes but i can see that coming and usually just "feex theess thee russiaaaan wayyy" and give it a good smack, or more like a good hard tap on the pad and it starts goin again. But when this thing locks up it locks up, can't do a thing.
My laptop locked upon me when i read this thread.
