We don't see any point in having a huge bankroll as we prepare for our first event. It doesn't take long to burn through a cool million, either.

Well, at least there was a player within a few strokes of me. That is a little better, but still kind of pitiful.

Maybe I will choke a bit.

Again, the margin of victory was less than before, but still no real suspense. I guess I can try to get to the next level as quickly as feasible and see what happens.

I was at the Notapro website tying to download the course for the next FOFC tourney (which I couldn't get to work) and there is some knashing of teeth at the troubles some people are having at the Master Level, which I am assuming is next.

We will see as soon as possible.

How does the game manage the difficulty of the various levels? Are the courses more difficult, or do the other players shoot better?

thealmighty
08-18-2003, 11:37 PM
Both, Desnudo.

In the early going, the tees you hit from are further up than they are now. The farther your career goes, the farther back the teeboxes go, elongating the yardage for the same holes/courses you played before.

The opponents in amateur are terrible. Most hit drives in the 230 yard area and do not even carry a driver. The power and shotmaking go up some every level you advance.

The problem that you have (at least you have if you are any good) is that you start out better than the amateurs (a lot better) and as the opponents skills advance, so do yours through raising your attributes, so that you always (so far) maintain your ability above the computer opponent. The competition has a great event once and a while, but by and large, it is fairly easy to win almost every event. (Or else I am really good. :D )

Sounds right up my alley then. I hate a fair fight. Judging by the results of the first FOFC, it does look like you're something of a video golf savant though.

I just bought it and am installing it now. This is the first golf game I've played since that Sega golf game way back in the early 90s. Although I was apartment champ, summer of 1994, so my resume is fairly impressive.

>

>

>

THough Faxon sucked again, and we didn't even get to use a shot he hit until the 5th hole, our team was victorious.

We had 4 eagles on the round and ended up at 16 under par. Corey Pavin and Colin Montgomerie were second at -12.

On April 24th, we played an 18 hole Stableford Scoring System tourney. It was at Bay Hill.

>

>

>

We made 12 pars, which usually means not enough points to win this kind of event. However, 2 eagles netted 10 points in two holes to catapult us to the win. We had +15 points on the day.

Paul Azinger and Harrison Frazer tied for 2nd with +13. Tiger was tied for 41st with 6 points.

The win was good for $377,935

We don't know what to expect, but with the length of the course you would think second shots will be long irons. That is not really our favorite, but it depends on the wind and the green speed. We don't really have a problem with the rough, though it should be heavy for this magnitude of an event.

Yeah, SI, I may have unfortunately hit my zenith already. I guess it gives me something tangible to shoot (no golfing pun intended) for.

The wild thing is I only had 16 putts the whole round as I chipped in 3 times from 25 feet or less.

And, imo, 25 feet or less chipshots are easier than putting. I make them 80% of the time, I would say. 95% of the time from 15 feet or under.

Okay, a 20 stroke victory in the Championship Level tournament. It better get much harder at Master level or what is the point-- and where is the FUN.

On a side note, the amazing thing about the 4 rounds is that, while I shot 37 under par, I made 0 eagles the whole time. That's alot of birdies.

Being enthralled for the 4th time by the cutscene telling me "Congratulations Winner", I am given the differences and upgrades available at Master level. These include: New Events- Bloodsome, 4-ball Stableford. New Courses- Torrey Pines and St. Andrews (finally).Attributes will now cost $500,000 each.

Fees for matches and competitions will now cost $750 to $1000

The calendar starts over at January 1st, once more.

Maybe I can get my ASS kicked some at this level and put some fun and excitement into the game. We will see shortly in...

FYI, bloodsomes sound interesting. Your partner and you both tee off, but the OPPONENTS get to choose which ball you have to play next.

With the shit partners I have had in the past, this could be very frustrating, not to mention unprofitable.
