My old boss just called me about a job in Sterling Heights, MI. Anyone live around there? Pros? Cons?

Yep, I live about five miles from there. Not a bad area at all. The 'eastside' of Detroit, basically Macomb County which where Sterling Heights is, is a little bit older of a community but for the most part remarkably well kept up, and cost of living is relatively cheap, especially compared to Oakland County. There's nothing too remarkably special about it, but nothing bad either, just a typical suburban community. If you were to work there you could basically live anywhere you wanted in the northern Detroit area, like eastern Oakland County, and the drive wouldn't be too bad in the morning. You'd be about twenty minutes from most of the pretty good area nightlife if you are interested in that sort of thing. If you want to know any more specifics about the area, PM me and I will try to get you that info.

I live in Utica which borders Sterling Heights on the north. ice4277 pretty much nailed it. Nothing bad about living here at all, but nothing outstanding either. It is very safe, has good schools, and isn't too expensive. Pretty much anything for any type of lifestyle is within a reasonable driving distance.

Thanks fellas, I've been to Sterling Heights before for work for a few days. Seemed like a nice place.

Oddly enough my current company has a position (my field) that just opened at our HQ in the area as well.
