Our third event will be held at Joshua Ridge a beautiful course design by well known cyber-course-designer, Steve Opfer. The conditions for the tournament will be light rough, wet greens, gusty winds, with moderate pin placements. The purse for this event is rather small compared to the first two weeks, but $600,000 is nothing to sneeze at. Friday is the deadline for entries. Download the course ASAP and get some practice in. Report experience and discuss strategies in this thread. If you need help downloading or installing custom courses, please let me know. Ill be glad to help. If you've never played a custom course, you are in for a treat. Some of them are better than the stock courses.

GOOD LUCK.

Just a quick blurb on how to install the course would be helpful, I have never messed with the custom ones in Tiger so far and have no doubts that they can be even better then the stock courses.

Go to the Notapro site and download the course. Also download the "Jorg Installer" from the Notapro site (you will find a link on the left menu). Once you have the course downloaded, open the file (just open it zipped up, Jorg installer can deal with that) and then accept the default path to install it. It will then tell you which libraries it needs that are not installed on your computer. You can get the libraries on Notapro's too. Follow the same procedure with the Jorg installer with each library. Beside the course name on Notapro's site it lists all the libraries you will need for the course, but if you've downloaded some in the past, you may already have some or all installed. Thats why I recommend letting the Jorg Installer tell you what is missing.

Well I installed the course plus the two libaries it needed but TW won't intialize the course giving me a error message.. any idea as to what I did wrong.. I already made sure they were installed correctley since Jorg told me i already had installed them...

Try uninstalling the course and libraries using the Course Utility that comes with Tiger and then reinstalling each using the Jorg. You can also use the Course utility to check to see if the libraries you need are actually installed (it lists all installed libraries and all installed courses). Also, I would use the Jorg program to open the courses/libraries while they are still zipped. Just open the zip file directly from within the Jorg program. It really sounds like one of the libraries didnt get installed properly to me. Not sure why. Ive never had a problem with the program and I have around 60 courses Ive installed.

Did all of that and it still won't let me.....

I tried, but it says I need 'Desert Library' or something that I cannot find on the Course disk or on Notapro website.

Ok, I found the Desert Library in notapro's Tiger 2002 library section and now the course works. Yea...

...NOT. That thing is brutal. I had my best putt ever, a 26 YARD eagle. WooHoo. It was all downhill from there. You know it's not good when you hear "This to save double bogey."

For some reason I would like explained if possible, I could not hit the ball straight at all. Almost every shot was a 'toe' or some other bad thing. Is this course somehow different, swing wise, or are all special made courses set-up differently with the swing? I can't have gotton this bad overnight. I DID NOT BREAK 80 on my first practice round. :( :( :(

Yeah that course is pretty stout. Holes 4, 7, and 10 routinely eat my lunch. As for the hitting it straight thing, I think some textures like specific types of rough and/or fairway are tougher to hit out of. Slight mishits are magnified out of some textures. My guess is that some of the textures in this course are those rougher types. I cant imagine this being the case of the tee, though coupled with the gusty winds, this might account for most of what you noticed. But, no, custom courses arent harder to play than stock courses.

I had a horrible front 9 for practice.. went to the turn at 7 over... but I then proceeded to have a soild back 9 going one under for a total of 6 over for the practice round. thealmighty I can feel your pain.. what I find is just like regular golfers.. we can get into a rut mouse swing wise and just can't fix ourselves. Also like Matt said some textures are harder to hit out of. Just remember a bit of patience exp. after one of those mishit shots or you will countinue to hit the same type of the shot over and over again :)

bonehog and I just played a practice round together online. I shot about -2 which is my best score on that course by about 6 shots :)
I actually birdied my nemesis, hole 7. Some of the tee shots off of "Joshua Ridge" are a bit tough to judge. There's one in particular somewhere on the front 9 where its 20 yards downhill. I always hit either too long into the bunkers or over-compensate and hit way short. The gusty winds for this round dont help.

#4 is EVIL. That low hole surrounded by water is hard to judge by itself, throw in the wind and I see lots of swimmers this tourney.

Sent in my round. Did pretty well (I think) but very strange. Only had 5 pars for the whole round, either hit or miss most of the time with all the stupid ass trees in my line of sight to the pin.

The leaderboard for the Michigan Open is posted.

Next week is our first major. We need a full field for this one. We had so few entries for the Michigan Open you actually allowed ME to finish in the money :)

I'd like to join in for the next match. Someone has to stop TA from running away with it.

OK just submit your round and youre in. Theres no signup procedure. Every event in season 1 is open to all FOFC members. Season 2 may have some restrictions if it becomes popular, but that will require a lot more participation than we currently have. I expect it to be the same next season.
