But if I asked SkyDog to kill off mrskippy (as I've thought about doing) went back now and posted as neofied, you'd start treating me differently, wouldn't you?
You'd treat me (neofied) as if I were mrskippy and not as if I were neofied. Am I right?
The original idea was to stay on as neofied and never post again as mrskippy. Than on my birthday when it said today's birtdays (neofied and mrskippy) I was going to reveal the truth.
But still SkyDog shouldn't have actually confirmed or said anything. So I still feel he did break a promise never to say anything.

You're such a coward. You're not content to sleep in the bed you lie, so you seek to escape your past actions and all responsibility for the dumb things you have said and done by taking ona new "secret" identity.
And moving all this intot he sublime is that you blew your own secret by posting your mrskippy picture from brian.neofied.com or whatever. Good going, Einstein.
You know what's worse than liars and promise-breakers? Cowards and responsibility-shirkers.

P.S. I didn't treat neofied as anything period. Can't say I noticed you as neofied one way or another, so much as I recall. I don't recall PMing you ever. I know I haven't emailed you. Perhaps you PM'd me and I replied--I don't recall--that was a long time ago. I certainly know I have never initiated any private contact with you ever.
If that's what I said (and I don't even remember saying it), then I'm going to have to switch up on you, because I just don't think that's right. You have said some pretty awful and/or inane things in your time here, and you should be held responsible for the actions you willingly take, and not run from them.
As for me or anyone else not knowing you, obviously we don't know you face-to-face. But I have a theory about Internet posting. In some ways, there is a veil over a person, so you don't know who they are. And in other ways, the true person comes out more often than they ever would in a face-to-face encounter.
IMO, we have seen enough of you over the years to have seen plenty of the "true you", which I believe is the "asshole" we are constantly subjected to when you go on your standard daily rants or insult parades.

If I have to explain to you why mrskippy doesn't deserve courtesy and respect, you'll never get it. A rational person I would just tell to go back over mrskippy posts for the past year or two. But I already know from past experience that you are not a rational person, so pointing out the posting crimes of your past would be a pointless venture.

We're all entitled to our opinion. Some of us are more moral/less moral than others.
Heck, mrsimperless had two threads closed today. I didn't think there was anything necessarily wrong with them and wouldn't have closed them myself. Offensive? Sure. But this is pretty much a man's message board.
As for "supposed Christian morality" I think if you took a look at some of my threads as neofied and even a few recent ones as mrskippy that you'd notice I'd toned down on the "morality" thing.
I will admit, when it comes to things I do need to lighten up and go with the flow. I need to lighten up and take the jabs from those who disagree.
And if getting beaten down, I need to admit defeat.
In the end though, I'd hope that some people could show "courtesy" and at least "respect" my opinions. I'm not asking for people to "agree" with me. :D

I'll tell you why I don't think that you've earned any respect on this board:
You are a needy, pseudo-intellectual, mud-slinging, close-minded asshole who enjoys starting arguments, but then either runs and hides, hurls insults, or threatens to sue people when you realize you can't hold your own.
My advice? Nut it up, take your medicine like a man, and stop acting like a attention-crazed jackass. Perhaps then people would start to respect you.
Chief Rum
08-21-2003, 11:29 PM
Agree 100% with Schmidty.
Everyone deserves another chance. But going to another name altogether and hiding from your past actions isn't the way to do it.
You have to start now and not be a collossal jackass here. You'll have to accept that people still won't give you the respect because you have burned a lot of bridges, and that kind of skepticism is very hard to overcome. Like they say, you never get another chance to make a first impression, and your first impression is giving the rest of us a two-year hangover.
If you want to change things, you're going to have to accept that people aren't going to trust you or respect you for a very long time. It's going to take an extended period (try a year for some, I would bet) of good behavior for people to finally put the hatchet away. And that entire time, you're not going to get the respect or courtesy you think you deserve. Can you deal with that? IMO, I don't think you can. It's only a matter of time before you blow up again.
Up until now, Schmidty's description is so dead-on, it could be the inscription on your tombstone 40-50 years down the road.

Well, my example was the men who pose as teenagers and than lure teens to teen-age girls to them. In many of those cases, the girl simply assumes that this nice guy is really who he says he is. But in the end isn't.
And most of those encounters are the result of numerous and lengthy posts/chats, not something that happens on a first encounter.
That's what I mean when I say you really don't know me or who I am.
If you go on an internet message to purposely act like an asshole either you're an asshole or a huge doof.
Again, what makes me an asshole? My opinions?
If we had an open face-to-face discussion on some of the topics I've participated over the years, I think you'd find a different person. I truly do. You could see my expressions, my laughter, emotion, etc.

mrskippy, I do not recall ever responding to you in any forum post before. However, I have read many of your posts and the following responses for quite some time. I think it is pretty safe to say that you are correct. No one here knows the real you, or what you really are like away from the message board, so there is no way for anyone to comment on the real you.
I also think it is fair to say that quite a large number of people on this board have learned alot about the persona that you appear on this board as, and the actions that this internet persona has taken in your time here. It is that persona that a great number of people here wish would just dissapear and not come back. Whether it is the real you, or some faux you, that is pointless. The way the "mrskippy" user on this board has behaved in posts for as long as I can remember has caused the majority of people here to not care what the person behind "mrskippy is like".
So I am not judging you as a person, or commenting at all on what the real you is like. As far as I know, the real you might be Mother Theresa, HornsManiac or Helen of Troy. But the "mrskippy" user on FOFC board has come across as annoying, antagonistic, self absorbed, unreasonable, inconsistant and outright flamable. The majority of the FOFC community which is made up of and consists of many thousand other personas wish the persona known as mrskippy would cut it out.
I am sure the real you is great, but your apperances here are outright rediculous. I usually stay out of these type of things, but guess I just felt like being non-tactful.

Your analogy of the Internet pedophiles is flawed in many ways.
For one, even repeated chats over a long period of time isn't going to touch two years of endless ranting on a message board.
Second, pedophiles are to a certain extent, bonkers. As I said, that's one of the ways you could get away with it.
Third, they are talking to children--not exactly the hardest humans to fool, are they? Children are by their very nature and life experience naive.
Fourth, do you really want to compare your personality-"hiding" skills with pedophiles?
And fifth, get over the "if you met me, you would see I am a good guiy" bit. That's just never going to happen. For the vast, vast majority of us here, we will never meet each other personally, so it doesn't matter of you're Mother Jesus Gandhi Teresa in real life.
Your forum is an Internet board. That's where you need to improve your behavior. Regardless of whether it is the true you, we can only react to you from what we know, and if you continue to act like a jerk on an Internet board, you will continue to be treated like a jerk on an Internet board.

needy
Many of us are.
mud-slinging
Certainly not the only one. And I usually sling mud after its been slung at me. That's the way I've always fought. Just ask my elementary and high school admins.
close-minded
Somebody willing to compromise on Prop 54, the California recall race, the gay high school, etc., and other social issues isn't close-minded.
Somebody who believes in giving full benefits to domestic partners isn't being close-minded.
For the record I'm also willing to make compromises on abortion, gay marriage, and a handful of other social issues.
asshole
I'll accept that. I deserve it. I have been an asshole from time to time. Others have to. But I'll admit to this.
who enjoys starting arguments
I enjoy starting debates. In a debate you have two different arguments, sometimes more.
I love to debate. Always have, always will. Love it even better IRL, face-to-face, man-to-man, far away from the false shield of the Internet.
but then either runs and hides
Well, my account was blocked for two months. I'd started posting as neofied, felt comfortable in doing so, but the only reason I came back was someone brought it up. Otherwise, I think I'd have remained neofied and nobody would have known. And in the end I think it'd have been better for everyone. My mistake.
hurls insults
Only after insulted. And I never meant anything by it. Again, this is a problem of the Internet. In person, I can offer a shit grin or something to show that I'm just pulling your leg. Can't do that online.
threatens to sue people when you realize you can't hold your own.
Again, just joking around.
One thing that bothers me is how everyone is so sue happy in this country. People sue over the darndest things. I like to have fun with this quarky aspect of the American legal system.
It's doubtful I'd ever sue anyone. There have been a few times in my life where I had good reason to sue, but never did. Mainly because it should be left for extreme situations where there really is a case and not used as the easy way out.

No I don't.
But you don't get what I'm saying. I'm just trying to say that you only see part of me when you're on this forum.
And fifth, get over the "if you met me, you would see I am a good guiy" bit. That's just never going to happen. For the vast, vast majority of us here, we will never meet each other personally, so it doesn't matter of you're Mother Jesus Gandhi Teresa in real life.
Actually a large group have met before at the OOTP events in Atlanta. And at poker nights in Atlanta.
Sadly jetBlue charges $198 R/T to go to Atlanta. And as much as I'd love to go to these parties, I'm not paying that much.
It's the reason I've often proposed having one of those parties here in California or perhaps in Las Vegas.
Regardless of whether it is the true you, we can only react to you from what we know, and if you continue to act like a jerk on an Internet board, you will continue to be treated like a jerk on an Internet board.
CR
I wasn't acting like a jerk as neofied.
Having an opinion doesn't make you a jerk.
And if it's because I have conservative views, I can assure you that the moderator of this forum is far more conservative than I ever was or thought about being.

I'm trying. I'll do my best.
There have been a few threads in the past few weeks where I could have gone off and said stupid stuff, but I didn't.
And there have been a few threads where I've posted some good thoughts and ideas too.
There have only been a few occasions since returning that I've said stupid stuff. And even than, I don't see the big fuss.
The biggest probably being the Power Outage thread. And as I said, I wasn't the only one who thought that at first. However, terrorism was a logical concern. Before 9-11 it wasn't, but today it is.
In the end the power outage was caused by human error. And as I said, if it was human error it's quite likely that heads will roll. Especially when the power company currently in question already has been in trouble with the DOE. And especially when that power company was created in a merger with the company that owns Three Mile Island.
Notice after the terrorist attacks this week, I didn't go off on a tyrade. I've held back in several instances.
And I've tried to be logical in several more instances in recent weeks.
The OOTP instance was more frustration than anything and feeling left in the dark by the situation. And that has been based on some uneasy feelings at times with the company. I like the games from 400 and OOTP, but have been uneasy at times over various things. I'm one of those who paid in advance for Courtside for instance and looking forward to it being a 400 release.

See, that's the thing, though.
It doesn't take much to evoke memories of the asshole skippy we're used to getting.
Post-thread explanations don't do it. You have to avoid doing it in the first place. If indeed you already are, then that is encouraging. But we won't ever know about that. We only see when you post, not when you don't post.
You need to stop thinking in terms of fewer ranting posts like the Power Outage and OOTP threads, and start thinking in terms of "no ranting posts at all". And then keep it up fpr a long, long time.

Here is a PM that Fritz sent me sometime ago:
Somewhere along the way (while I was in hiatus) you picked up a bad rep with a segment of the board. I have no idea if this was warrented or not. Now when you say anything there are a line of people waiting to shit all over you. Sometimes this is earned, but othertimes not.
My suggestion is that you consider registering with a new screen name and start over. If you do this you may be able to share your thoughts without getting crapped all over.
Understand that I am not saying you should or need to do this, but I offer the suggestion as a solution to possible frustrations you may be having.
Best,
Fritz

There are benefits to dropping your baggage and going with a new name.
The problem is that it is dishonest, and everything I said it was before.
If you want to bring about a meaningful change, you need to do it with the mrskippy moniker.

What you're saying is it's OK to post, so long as it's logical?
Such as:
"I agree with the recall in California. But the opposition does prove a point in that it will cost a lot of money. Perhaps there's a way we can reach a compromise to make both sides happy, like finding a later date to hold the election that would work for everybody."
OR
"While terrorism was the first thing to come to my mind after today's outage, I certainly hope it's something different. I don't want to jump to conclusion as to the cause, but let's just hope it was a downed line, human errror, or something other than terrorism."
OR
"The Alabama judge just needs to accept the Supreme Court's decision not to hear the Ten Commandments case. While I certainly believe they should have, it's probably better the monument be removed, than to potentially mess up his case by keeping it there. Hopefully the Supreme Court will eventually hear this case and make a ruling on it. In fact it'd be interesting to see what they have to say, just as it will be interesting to see what they have to say about similar cases."
and so on ...
Logical posts, rather than rants. :)

Somewhere along the way (while I was in hiatus) you picked up a bad case of herpes from a segment of the board. I have no idea if this was from Subby or not. Now when you say you want a hummer or anything there are a line of people waiting to shit all over you. Sometimes this is kind of a turn on, if you're into that sort of thing, but othertimes not.

It got better. And I really did think at first it could've been terrorism. Because sometime ago I'd heard that one thing the terrorists may go after might be infrastructure. The fact that there are many unmanned transmission stations out there always makes that a concern. Same goes for things like water pumps, television transmission towers, and things like that which go unmanned. So it wasn't that far out of line. I was wrong of course.
But than again so it seems the natural occurance thing is wrong too.
As it turns out this incident does appear man's doing, rather than nature's. At least that's what they're making it sound like. And now that I've done some research on FirstEnergy, I'm not surprised.

I think we need an intervention with young Shorty.
As for his lady friend, there are plenty of big-haired sluts in Milford.

BTW, I was laughing my ass off at your drunk posts. It has been awhile since I have been that sloshed!

illinifan, excuse me but I have already used the phrase "For shame" at the end of a paragraph here at FOFC today. You are violating the agreement that we never use the same one cliche twice in 24 hours.

And I was just getting ready to say something nice about you. I was going to say that everything you said goes double for me. Now I'm forced to amend that by saying that except for topics about the Big 10, the Angels and the size of various parts of my anatomy, everything Chief Rum says goes double for me.
As for Marm getting the credit for the banning of kippy, sure he started the thread and then wandered in halfway through and called us all fuckers, but other that he was dead weight. Much like the Baltimore Orioles in the RWBL. :)

I am not afraid. SkyDog should let discussion occur. He's been an ass and needs to change his tone. Changing HA's poll seletions after locking his thread to make it look like he was trolling was bullshit. Not allowing Cringer and others explain why sov and GWB were suspended was bullshit. Overly protecting Fido, who doesn't even come here much anymore, is bullshit. Just saying any further public discussion on this equates grandstanding/trolling is complete bullshit.
In fact, I think I just talked myself into not coming here anymore until there's a change. Goodbye.

Oh wait.

Agreed. Discussion of a controversial banning is almost never grandstanding and only becomes it if the moderators try to stifle debate on it.
