View Full Version : Tiger League - The Legends Classic (MAJOR)

Our first Major of the season, the Legends Classic, is this week at Muirfield Village. Muirfield is a course with a unique feel and a well-thought-out design. Lots of decisions to make all over this course. One of my favorite holes in all of golf is the 5th hole. It's a sharp dog-leg to the right, but it is very tough to reach the corner. From the tee, you can try to reach the corner and have access to the main fairway, or you can play a bit more conservatively and play short of the corner, where you have a shot to an alternate fairway on the other side of a stream which will come in to play on your next shot. The conditions for this tournament are not easy: Heavy rough, very dry greens, but calm winds. The difficult pin position setting will add even more challenge to the course for our first major event and largest purse of the season to this point. My first practice round just finished a few minutes ago, and I shot a 74. Keep us posted with comments, questions, practice round stories, etc. Deadline for entries is Friday.

GOOD LUCK!

First practice round was going great. Then I hit the back nine and took a 12 on a hole. That kind of screwed me, to say the least.

After five tries, was able to birdie the last two holes to get a 70, and my luck was about that, as I made some lucky shots and missed some makeable shot. My first sub-par round, if I can shoot that in my official round, I'll be happy.

Hint: If you get in the rough on some of the holes, DO NOT go at the hole. The water on these holes will punish you.

Hitting out of the rough for this event is like hitting out of kickstand. I mean quicksand.

I am getting better. 2nd practice round I would have shot par, except the hole I got 12 on before, I shot 10 on this time.

I guess that is progress. :)

Had a horrible practice round and got 13 on one hole.. I think number 5 if i am right. I have to learn that I don't always have to go to the green and that it is indeed allowed to lay up once in a while :) The water has become my ball's worst nightmare and that rough is a big pain in the ass as well. If i correct my mistakes I might actually have a good round.. if not then this will be one horrible showing on friday.

I shot a -4 on my last practice round. Would have been better cept a double bogey (on the 15th I think) coming from putting too much faith in David Feherty's read of the green. Damn him...when I can't figure out the read, he's nowhere in sight, and when I'm sure I have it down pat, he chips in with some "hard left-to-right" comment that makes me second guess and screw up the shot.

No problem. Just get the gamewatcher utility and unzip the fofc config file into its league directory. Then make sure and play all your events on Tour difficulty, Tournament tees, the course and conditions that are listed for each event and submit your verification file to the email address listed on the site.

Stop, Dola Time!

Submitted my round. Won't say how I did, but it was in the red #'s. (ie under par)

The rule on this course, you gamble, you lose :)

3rd and final practice round. Made under par with the help of a 190 yard hole-out for eagle.

Hint #2: with very dry greens you need to hit putts softer. Doing so will cause putts with break to break MORE (at least it seemed so for me).

Sent in my round. Not very good, and only saving grace was a 150+ yard hole-out for eagle on #10.

Y'all can start calling me Phil 'almighty' Mickelson cuz I can't win the big ones. :)

I suck.

Okay, I think I hit water (stream) on three holes where the water didn't even show up on the map. *sigh*

Leaderboard is updated on main tiger page. There is one round that is being re-checked, so it may change slightly. These results are unofficial.

Damn, I didn't think -3 would be very good.
