Dynasty Overview

The purpose of the Nebraska Blizzards Dynasty is to tell a compelling and intriguing story using FOF2 as the backdrop.

The Story So Far (Updated 8/23/03!!!)

It all began in January 2000. That year, Anthony Coriolanus, President and CEO of AgroGlobal Corporation, and a man known only as "The Executioner" agreed to a join forces in a business venture expected to generate billions of dollars. Using Coriolanus’ connections with the National Football League Commissioner’s Office, the two men set out to purchase an expansion franchise to generate large amounts of cash separate and apart from their own personal income. Then, using Executioner’s connections to the infamous Mexican Zopepe Drug Cartel, the money made by the team would be invested into drug trafficking to generate incredible profits. Since they decided that the team’s name would be the Nebraska Blizzards, it seemed appropriate that their criminal venture should be code-named Operation Snow Blind.

Their plan began with Coriolanus bribing NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabue and other league executives to obtain enough votes to win the bid for an expansion franchise in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Executioner, meanwhile, assassinated the most prominent competitors for the expansion franchise team, as well as those opposed to construction of the Blizzards’ stadium.

After Coriolanus was awarded the NFL's latest expansion franchise, he set out to hire the best General Manager in the league—Jack “Grid” Iron. Since Grid was under contract with the San Diego Chargers, Coriolanus framed Iron by paying a notorious bookie, Heather Diamond, to accuse the GM of gambling on NFL games. After Iron was fired by the Chargers due to the criminal charges, Coriolanus befriended him, and even paid for his lawyer throughout the ensuing jury trial. Iron was later acquitted after Diamond surprised prosecutors by testifying that she made up the accusations only to gain notoriety. Since Coriolanus had supported Grid Iron throughout the entire ordeal, Iron’s decision to be the Blizzards’ GM was an easy one.

After securing the franchise, stadium and general manager, Coriolanus and the Executioner began investing the team’s profits into the drug trade. Over several years, Coriolanus donated millions of dollars generated by the Blizzards to sham charities in South America and Mexico. These charities then laundered the money by transferring it to the cartel, where it was used to fund the drug smuggling operations. The drug profits were then deposited into several off-shore bank accounts, set up by the Executioner.

The enterprise was wildly successful, as both men made over one billion dollars within 10 years. Coriolanus was content to bask in the glory of his vast, new wealth. The Executioner, however, had different plans for his share of the profits.

Working with CIA Director Archie Bitzer, also known as “Silencer,” the Executioner used the money earned from the cartel’s drug activities to genetically engineer a virus that would kill anyone of Arab ancestry. In 2015, the virus was released into a small village in Saudi Arabia, and it spread quickly across the entire region, gaining its nickname, the “Arabian Flu.” By the end of 2016, it had reached every country in the Middle East and killed over 500,000 people. By 2017, the disease appeared for the first time in the United States when a businessman from Yemen died shortly after arriving in Honolulu, Hawaii. In 2018, the first case in the continental U.S. occurred when a Saudi immigrant, who had not been to the Middle East in several years, died in a Bronx, New York, hospital.

In 2019, Bitzer urged the Executioner to begin what is known only as “Phase 2,” which involved distributing a vaccine for the Arabian Flu. The Executioner refused, telling Bitzer that he could not provide him a vaccine because none existed - he had lied about it merely to secure Bitzer’s help. Wracked with guilt, Bitzer later took his own life. FBI Agent Alex Goldstein, however, discovered the Executioner’s plot while reviewing Bitzer’s computer files.

Also in 2019, the countries of Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Saudi Arabia began deploying large numbers of troops and missiles (suspected of carrying chemical weapons) to their borders with Israel, which they blamed for the disease. In response, Israel detonated a tactical nuclear device in an uninhabited area to deter any military attack by the Arabs.

The escalating violence in the Middle East convinced Goldstein to suggest to his superiors that the U.S. take responsibility for its role in creating the virus. The President of the United States ordered a cover-up of the incident. Goldstein, however, saved the computer records and planned to go public with the information.

Unfortunately, the National Security Agency caught wind of Goldstein’s plan and had him arrested to face charges of treason before a military tribunal. He is currently being held at a secret military base outside of the continental United States.

As for Coriolanus, he fled the U.S. in 2014 following an attempt on his life by one of the Executioner’s assassins and his indictment for drug trafficking. He re-appeared in 2016, however, in Germany. Holed up with a large cache of firearms in a small apartment in suburban Hamburg, Coriolanus told Interpol authorities that he killed his own wife and children mercifully because he feared that they would have suffered horrific and painful deaths if the Executioner got to them first. After several hours of negotiation, Coriolanus agreed to surrender and the authorities all about Operation Snow Blind. Unfortunately, as Coriolanus walked out of the apartment and towards the waiting police, he was shot and killed by an unknown assassin.

To date, the Arabian Flu has killed over three million people. Further, the Executioner’s purpose in creating the virus and releasing it upon the Middle East is currently unknown.

In addition, over the last decade several South Pacific villages, and all of their inhabitants, have been completely destroyed by missiles from Russian Mako helicopters. The Russian government has denied any involvement. The CIA believes that several Mako helicopters that vanished on a training mission in 2003 in Siberia were actually stolen by the squadron commander, Vladimir Maritczak, and his men. A worldwide search has begun for Maritczak, who was an outspoken Ukrainian and considered to be sympathetic toward the United States and NATO. Any connection between the Mako helicopters and Operation Snow Blind, if there is one, is unknown at this time.

On December 31, 2019, NORAD detected the launch of 35 missiles from various Arab nations directed at Israel. Shortly thereafter, Israel launched a counter-strike of 65 rockets, which satellites showed to be armed with nuclear warheads. The capitals of Jordan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Syria are among the cities targeted.

In 2020, the world learned of the horrifying destruction across the Middle East from the Arab-Israeli missile attacks. Millions died and cities were left in ruin. The U.N. sent peacekeepers to the area to maintain stability, but they weren't enough. U.N. Secretary General Jean-Paul Petain was removed from office when the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Jamir Al Sabah, called for his impeachment after his father was killed by a suicide bomber. Al Sabah, the newly crowned King of Kuwait, was elected to replace Petain, and has vowed to increase the U.N.'s military presence in the Middle East to eradicate the many terrorist groups attempting to seize power in the shattered land.

Also in 2020, Grid Iron received a cryptic e-mail from someone purporting to be Anthony Coriolanus. Coriolanus was believed to have been killed by an assassin in 2016 before he could reveal the secret of Operation Snow Blind to the authorities.

In 2021, Grid Iron learned that the e-mail was really an automated message written by Coriolanus several years ago before his death. Coriolanus instructed Grid Iron to access the AgroGlobal computer system in Kuala Lumpur for information that would unveil a horrifying conspiracy. In Kuala Lumpur, Coriolanus left a message for Grid saying the information had to be copied to a keychain hard drive and that it would be slipped to him by a guest at Le Petit Zinc, a restaurant in Paris, on New Year's Eve 2022.

Also in 2021, Anthony Angelino gave up his stake in the Melbourne, Florida, Eagles to become the majority owner of the Nebraska Blizzards. The President of New York-based BuildCo Enterprises, Angelino announced shortly after buying the team that he would move it unless the public paid for a new $1 billion stadium.

At the close of 2021, King Jamir Al Sabah of Kuwait announced that doctors in his country discovered a cure for the Arabian Flu and would begin distributing it immediately.

In 2022, the U.S. government provided U.N. peacekeepers in the Middle East with 1,000 new F-35 Joint Strike Fighters, the most advanced military plane in the world. The planes were provided at the request of King Sabah, who pointed out the need to deter terrorist cells and rival governments from interfering with the rebuilding process.

Also in 2022, Grid Iron obtained the hard drive Anthony Coriolanus left for him in Paris. In it, Coriolanus included information from AgroGlobal's computer database which described a secret research facility in Paraguay. According to the disk, the place was created by the U.S. government to circumvent the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention of 1975 and was responsible for creating the Arabian Flu. The disk also stated that it was the CIA that released the virus in the Middle East. The facility is hidden in the jungle and has gone undetected by local law enforcement for decades. Coriolanus did, however, give Grid Iron the GPS coordinates.

In 2023, Lincoln Police Officer Michael Phillips obtained a wiretap authorization to monitor the phone calls of a local drug dealer, Chu Nguyen. During on intercepted phone conversation, Nguyen explains to an associate that a new dealer named "Vinny" has opened shop in town and is significantly cutting into his business. Nguyen explained, however, that there was little he could do about Vinny since it is believed he is associated with organized crime ("OC").

2023 concluded when Grid Iron traveled to Paraguay to find the AgroGlobal research facility that manufactured the Arabian Flu. After he arrived, however, several unidentfied helicopters showed up and began firing missiles at Grid and the research facility, destroying the entire place, as well as Grid Iron’s companions.

In 2024, we learned that Grid Iron survived the attack on the research facility and began the long arduous journey home, travelling across the mountain of Paraguay, into Peru, a long trip aboard a fishing boat from Peru to Mexico, and then a bus ride from San Diego to Lincoln. With him, Grid brought two password-protected laptop computers that he recovered from the AgroGlobal research facility debris.

Just as Grid’s life seemed to be returning to normal, however, tragedy struck again. His son was kidnapped on New Year’s Eve, after which Grid received an e-mail from Vladimir Maritczak stating that they each had something the other one wanted.

In 2025, Grid Iron negotiated for the return of his kidnapped son. Vladimir Maritczak promised to return the boy in exchange for the laptop computer Grid took from the AgroGlobal lab in Paraguay. Iron agreed, and the exchange was made shortly after the Blizzards' Super Bowl victory. However, Maritczak's superior, The Executioner, discovered the former Russian Air Force Commander to be a traitor. He was found dead with a single gunshot wound to the head in a Lincoln hotel. The laptop was missing from its case.

Fortunately, both The Executioner and Maritczak were not aware of Grid Iron's second laptop. Also taken from the AgroGlobal lab in Paraguay, Grid Iron stashed the second computer away in his safety deposit box in Lincoln. Since the system is password protected, however, he has no idea what it contains.

In 2026, King Jamir Al Sabah arranged for the transition of U.N. Peacekeepers from European personnel to Arabs, and then announced the creation of the New Republic of Arabia, comprised of Kuwait, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Iraq. After Sabah resigned his post as Secretary General of the U.N., the Arabian U.N. troops gave their allegiance to the King, and took over the only two U.S. military bases in the Middle East.

In a speech to the world, Sabah stated that his plan to return Arabia to it place as the greatest nation in the world was finally complete. He explained that he developed the Allah Virus, engineered to kill all people not of Arab descent, to deter any military action against the New Republic of Arabia, and that he would use his army of former peacekeepers to destroy anyone standing in his way. The identity of the Executioner was finally revealed.

In 2027, former FBI agent Alex Goldstein was released from a secret military base when several U.S. military brass were indicted for their role in Operation Snow Blind. Recognizing that he could trust Goldstein above all else, Grid Iron delivered the second laptop he took from the AgroGlobal Lab in Paraguay. The laptop contained the genetic code for the Allah Virus, and a vaccine, which the U.S. and Russian began to manufacture.

To distribute the vaccine without arousing the suspicions of King Sabah, the U.S. government concocted a story about a rebel group in the Philippines obtaining a vial of smallpox virus. The Allah Virus vaccine was inserted into the smallpox vaccine that was distributed throughout the world, and within months the great weapon of Arabia was rendered impotent.

NATO seized the opportunity and invaded the New Republic of Arabia, conquering the evil nation on December 31, 2027. Unfortunately, King Sabah escaped, and his $1 trillion fortune vanished—transferred into untraceable off-shore bank accounts before the fall of Kuwait City. The world can now only wait to see if Sabah will rise again to seek his revenge.

In 2028, King Jamir Al Sabah obtained a fake U.S. passport and began a long journey to the United States to kill the person who brought down his empire—Grid Iron. The 2028 season came to a close with Sabah holding a gun on Iron at the GM’s home in Lincoln as a 911 dispatcher listened in helplessly . . .

House Rules (Updated 3/5/03!)

I employ a fairly standard set of "house rules" (empty cupboard, no franchise tag, must maintain a 53-man roster, no renegotiating, can't make trade proposals, trades must pass "fairness test", no current NFL players, auto-sign rookies). During the 20-step free agent period, I may negotiate with any player who was on my team the previous season without restriction. As for free agents who did not play on my team the previous season, I may sign up to three of them during the 20-step process, but I may only bid on one player at a time and I cannot modify my original offer. After the 20-step free agency period, I can only sign undrafted rookie free agents and players who were on my roster the previous season. All contracts signed outside of the 20-step process must be for exactly what the player asks, or for one year. I have decided to allow renegotiating with “classy veterans" who have a loyalty of "high" or above.

Lincoln, Nebraska (Ticker) – The Nebraska Blizzards announced today that the team’s General Manager Jack “Grid” Iron is currently hospitalized and in a coma after suffering a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. “Our thoughts and prayers will be with Grid until he returns to his job here at the Blizzards front office,” announced Assistant General Manager Leland Bronson, wiping tears from his eyes. “He’s a close friend, and I miss him a lot,” said Bronson, who played tight end for the Blizzards from 2005 until 2015.

Dr. Henry Vu of Lincoln General Hospital said that Iron is in stable condition, but no prognosis can be made at this time. “There’s just no way of knowing when, or if, he will wake up from his comatose state,” said Vu.

Despite a 9% drop in profits last season to $234 million, the Blizzards did not increase ticket prices.

Trades

Leland Bronson pulled the trigger on a controversial trade early in the off-season. The Blizzards sent second-year RB Richard Robledo to division-rival Oakland for the Raiders’ first-round pick in the 2029 draft (29th overall). Robledo was drafted out of Syracuse in the second round of the 2028 draft by Nebraska, but fell to third on the depth chart with the emergence of RB Willie Fletcher, who rushed for 426 yards last year during the regular season and posted two 100-yard games in the playoffs. “We’ve got two great tailback in Jerome Sweeney and Willie Fletcher and I really want to beef up out offensive line through the draft,” said Bronson after announcing the trade.

The Blizzards went into the free agency period $63.1 million under the $268.9 million salary cap.

Grid Iron did as he promised when he traded Richard Robledo to the Raiders by bolstering the offensive line with the Blizzards’ two first-round picks. 6’2”, 273 poundG Mitch Williams was selected with the 29th overall selection out of Tennessee-Chattanooga. 6’2”, 326 pound Shonn Sanders was picked with the 36th overall selection out of Illinois. “Both of these guys are big, strong, and agile,” said head coach Damon Walsh at a post-draft news conference.

Training Camp/Exhibition Season

The Blizzards had a great preseason, posting a perfect 4-0 record.

With the departure of LB Kyle Schwartz via free agency to Indianapolis, Nebraska phenom LB Wes Lane will finally get a chance to start. The 6’3”, 224-pounder was drafted by Nebraska with the 36th overall pick in 2027 out of North Carolina, and could become one of the best linebackers in the game.

Schedule

The Blizzards have a tough schedule this year, playing nine games against teams that made the playoffs in 2028. Moreover, only four of Nebraska’s 16 games are against teams that finished last season with a losing record (division rivals Kansas City and San Diego).

Lincoln, Nebraska (Reuters) - Nebraska Blizzards owner Anthony Angelino was arrested today after being indicted on a variety of racketeering charges. "Mr. Angelino used his mafia connections in New York to run drug and prostitution rings during the construction and operation of BuildCo field in Lincoln," said FBI spokesperson Gary Nadlin. "We also have evidence that his henchmen extorted money from local businesses and stadium vendors." Nadlin added that Angelino's illegal venture earned over $1.5 billion from 2021 to 2028.

If convicted, Angelino faces up to 20 years in prison. He is scheduled to appear in court next Friday.

Lincoln, Neb. (AP) - Scouts from two of the top college programs in the nation will be at tonight's game between Southeast Lincoln High and Lincoln. The reason is simple. Southeast Lincoln High School has the top prep quarterback in the country in Jack "Grid" Iron, Jr., son to Blizzards GM Grid Iron. "No question, he's on everyone's list," said coach Marcus Milliken. "All he does is shatter records."

The senior quarterback has thrown for 10,452 yards and 92 touchdowns against just 10 interceptions the past two years on the varsity squad. He also led his team to two conference championships and a state title last year.

In addition to his athletic prowess, however, Iron Jr. also has a brilliant mind. He has the top GPA in his class. "I think studying hard has made me smart, which helps me make decisions on the field," said the younger Iron. "I'm glad scouts are coming to see me, but I'm too busy thinking about other stuff."

The "other stuff" is unquestionably the fact that Iron Jr.'s father has been in a coma since last January after suffering a gunshot wound in a struggle with the former King of Arabia, Jamir Al Sabah. Iron Sr. eventually won, killing Sabah and saving his family. "I visit him in the hospital every day, rain or shine," said Iron's devoted son.

Week 1: Blizzards (0-0) vs. Raiders (0-0)

QB Moran Sweeney was intercepted three times and former Nebraska RB Richard Robledo, who was traded to Oakland in the off-season, ripped the Blizzards for 137 rushing yards as the Raiders prevailed 27-21.

In a serious blow to the Nebraska defense, both of the Blizzards’ starting safeties, Charles Mangum and Jerametrius Midget, are expected to miss at least two months with dislocated elbows.

Week 2: Blizzards (0-1) at Chiefs (0-1)

The loss of S Charles Mangum and S Jerametrius Midget didn’t seem to slow down the Nebraska secondary, which recorded five interceptions in the Blizzards 17-15 victory over the Chiefs.

Week 3: Blizzards (1-1) vs. Chargers (2-0)

RB Jerome Sweeney rushed for 142 yards and two touchdowns as the Blizzards dealt the Chargers their first defeat of the season, 30-3.

Week 4: Blizzards (2-1) vs. Jets (1-1)

At 3-1, the Blizzards are tied for first with Seattle and are one game ahead of Oakland (2-2) and San Diego (2-2).

QB Moran Sweeney dramatically improved from his dismal 2028 season, throwing for 770 yards, six touchdowns and six interceptions for a 73.6 rating. Although Sweeney suffered a broken nose in Week 4, he is expected to start in Week 6 after the team’s bye week.

LB Wes Lane, in his first year as a starting linebacker, has shown the brilliance everyone thought he would bring to the game as he leads the NFL with 52 solo tackles.

Washington, DC (AP) - U.S. Attorney General George Kearney announced today that Anthony Angelino, owner of the Nebraska Blizzards, struck a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty in federal court today on charges of racketeering, extortion, prostitution and drug sales. In exchange for his guilty plea, the NFL owner will receive a five-year prison sentence and cooperate in the prosecution of several mafia bosses in New York City. Angelino, who could have been sentenced to 20 years had he been convicted at trial, is now in protective custody at an undisclosed federal detention facility.

Kearney also announced that as part of the deal, Angelino would pay a fine in the amount of $2 billion, and surrender ownership of the Blizzards to the Federal government. "The Blizzards franchise will be sold to the highest bidder by the end of the year."

QB Moran Sweeney is almost recovered from a broken nose and will be ready to play next week.

Week 6: Blizzards (3-1) vs. Buccaneers (2-2)

RB Jerome Sweeney rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns and K Eugene Rhodes made all six of his field goal attempts as the Blizzards prevailed by a score of 41-25 over the Bucs. Rhodes has made all ten of his field goal attempts this year.

Week 7: Blizzards (41) at Seahawks (3-3)

The Nebraska defense recorded four interceptions and allowed only a field goal in the Blizzards’ 31-3 victory over the Seahawks.

Blizzards QB Moran Sweeney was intercepted three times and the Chargers returned a punt 99 yards for a touchdown as San Diego destroyed the Blizzards 24-3.

At 6-2, the Blizzards are alone in first, just ½ game ahead of San Diego (5-4) and two games ahead of Denver (4-4) and Oakland (4-4).

The Blizzards are having another great year running the ball as RB Jerome Sweeney, who started the season slowly, is on pace for his 10th 1,000-yard season after rushing for 550 yard and five touchdowns in eight games. K Eugene Rhodes has been fantastic, making 14 of his 15 field goal attempts.

The defense is also playing well. LB Wes Lane leads the league with 100 solo tackles, and the Blizzards lead the league with 17 interceptions.

Lincoln, Nebraska (Ticker) - Fortune magazine predicts that the Nebraska Blizzards franchise, which was seized by the federal government as part of a plea bargain with owner Anthony Angelino, could command a price of $2.4 billion on the open market. "This is a team that has averaged about $225 million per year in profit over the last five seasons," said Fortune analyst Cade Winslow. "I don't think there is any doubt that this team will be the most expensive franchise in the history of sports."

The federal government's auction of the team has many fans worrying that a new owner could decide to move the Blizzards to a bigger media market like New York or Los Angeles to make even more money. "That's a very possible scenario," said Winslow. "Since the federal government owns the team right now, they can sell it to whoever they want, without getting approval from the NFL."

Winslow added that the new buyer wouldn't even have to fully reimburse the city of Lincoln for its $1 billion stadium or 30-year lease. "The feds can just seize the team under the doctrine of emminent domain and the city might get pennies on the dollar - if it gets anything at all," he said. "Unfortunately, there is nothing the people of Lincoln can really do about it."

QB Moran Sweeney was intercepted twice and the Blizzards were flagged eight times for 70 yards, ruining any chance to win the as the Blizzards’ fell 27-13 to the Denver Broncos.

Week 15: Blizzards (9-4) at Steelers (8-5)

Rookie QB Seth Barlup, who got the start in favor of struggling QB Moran Sweeney, performed admirably by completing 13 of 28 for 139 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, but it wasn’t enough as the Blizzards fell 21-20 to the Steelers.

Week 16: Blizzards (9-5) at Raptors (9-5)

QB Moran Sweeney seemed rejuvenated from his week off, completing 18 of 28 for 297 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions as the Blizzards beat their in-state rivals 42-20.

With the win, Nebraska clinched its seventh consecutive division title. With a victory next week, the Blizzards clinch a first-round playoff bye. A Nebraska win, coupled with a Pittsburgh loss, will give the Blizzards home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs.

Week 17: Blizzards (10-5) vs. Broncos (7-8)

With 1:05 left in regulation, Nebraska QB Moran Sweeney completed a 47-yard pass to WR Bobby Thomason and then followed that with a 37-yard touchdown strike to WR Vince Clinton, giving the Blizzards a 14-12 victory over the Broncos.

Full Season Review

At 11-5, the Blizzards finished the season with the best record in the AFC, earning a first-round bye and home field advantage through the conference championship.

Nebraska allowed 16.7 points per game, which ranked third-best in the league. LB Wes Lane was the top defensive standout, leading the NFL with his 137 solo tackles.

The offense scored 22.1 points per game, good for eighth in the NFL. Los Angeles, CA (Reuters) - Hollywood producer Steven Worthington announced today that he is making a $10 billion bid for the Nebraska Blizzards franchise. "I don't think there is anyone out there who can match my offer, let alone beat it," the maker of Terminator 7, 8 and 9 said. "I've always wanted to own a sports franchise."

As for whether the team would remain in Lincoln if the purchase was successful, Worthington has specifically said that he plans to move the team to California. "Lincoln is a nice town, but its still small relative to LA and Hollywood," he said. "If the team can make a quarter billion dollars a year in Nebraska, I'm sure they will make triple that here on the West Coast."

The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that Worthington's bid is the highest to date by more than $5 billion. "We've had about 10 bids, but nothing comes close to this," said Treasury spokesperson Linda Rivell. "Our lawyers say that we are required to sell the team to the highest bidder, no matter what he or she intends to do with it."

Lincoln, Nebraska (Ticker) – QB Moran Sweeney was 19 of 27 for 259 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions as the Blizzards cruised to a 34-17 victory over San Diego, sending Nebraska to its eighth AFC Championship game in the last nine years.

“This feels great, considering how much I’ve struggled all year,” said Moran, who has seen his numbers rapidly decline since winning the league MVP award in 2027. “Hopefully, I can build on this and carry us to another Super Bowl victory.”

San Diego scored first on a 31-yard field goal, but a 38-yard kickoff return set up the Blizzards at the Chargers 47. Eight plays later, RB Jerome Sweeney ran four yards off left guard for a touchdown, putting the home team up 7-3.

The Chargers took the lead 10-7 in the second quarter on a 16-yard run by RB Claude Sellers, but Jerome Sweeney galloped 29-yards for a score to re-take the lead 14-10 with 4:14 left in the first half. After forcing San Diego to go three-and-out, the Blizzards drove 66 yards in 2:27 to take a 21-10 halftime lead on Moran Sweeney’s 17-yard touchdown pass to WR Vince Clinton.

Late in the third quarter, San Diego pulled to within 21-17 on a 17-yard touchdown pass from QB Melvin Conley to WR Korey German, but that would be all the points the Chargers would score. Vince Clinton caught his second touchdown of the day from Moran Sweeney with :37 left in the third quarter, and K Eugene Rhodes added field goals of 26 and 44 yards in the fourth quarter to finish the scoring.

<h3>Final contract to be signed following Super Bowl</h3>

Los Angeles, CA (Reuters) - Hollywood producer Steven Worthington announced today that he has reached an agreement in principle with the Federal government and expects to sign papers necessary to purchase the Nebraska Blizzards shortly after the Super Bowl. "I'm very excited," said Worthington. "My lawyers are just looking over the contract."

Worthington, who intends to move the team to Hollywood, will reportedly pay $10 billion for the Blizzards. Of that, the U.S. Department of the Treasury will give the City of Lincoln a meager $500,000 to reimburse it for the cost of constructing the Blizzards' $1 billion stadium. "I'm sure the city will be able to lease the stadium to a new tenant in the future to make up the remaining cost," said Treasury Department spokeperson Linda Rivell. "We'd like to give them more, but rebuilding the Middle East will be very, very costly."

After the sale was approved, members of the U.S. Congress and Sentate voted unanimously to give themselves a 30% raise. "That's just a coincidence," said Rivell. "Our legislature works very hard,and they haven't had a raise in two years."

Lincoln, Neb (AP) – DE Willie Norris had 14 tackles and two sacks on a snowy Nebraska day as the Blizzards crushed the Pittsburgh Steelers 34-10 to clinch their 9th Super Bowl berth in the last 11 seasons. Next week, the Blizzards will travel to St. Louis and play for the team’s 10th NFL championship.

“We’re gonna try to give ol’ Grid a ring for his other thumb,” said Norris, referring to Jack “Grid” Iron who has been the team’s GM through all of the franchise’s nine previous Super Bowl victories. “He may not be with us at the stadium, but he’ll be with us in out heart.” Iron is still comatose in a Lincoln hospital.

The Blizzards jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead when QB Moran Sweeney threw a 37-yard touchdown pass to WR Bobby Thomason midway through the first quarter. A 23-yard field goal by K Eugene Rhodes upped the score to 10-0 in the second quarter, but the Steelers responded with a 31-yard field goal of their own and the Blizzards led by only a touchdown at the intermission, 10-3.

Nebraska increased its lead to 17-3 on a 12-yard run by RB Jerome Sweeney in the third quarter, and then CB Wade Chavarria returned an interception 41 yards to put the home team ahead 24-3 shortly thereafter. Pittsburgh QB Bo Christian threw a 39 yard touchdown pass late in the third to make the score 24-10, but Jerome Sweeney ran 68 yards up the middle for a score with 8:50 left in the fourth quarter to kill any chance of a Steelers comeback. Eugene Rhodes kicked a 42-yard field goal with 10 seconds left in the game to complete the scoring.

Lincoln, NE (Ticker) – Just when Nebraska seemed poised to clinch the team’s ninth Super Bowl in 11 years, the St. Louis Rams rallied for 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win the game by a score of 20-17, leaving the stunned Blizzards players searching for answers.

“I feel so sick right now, I can barely talk,” said Nebraska QB Moran Sweeney, whose fumble on first down with 2:39 left in the game at the St. Louis 20 led to the Rams’ game-winning touchdown. “I just didn’t hold onto the ball, that’s all I have to say.”

Leading 17-3 in the fourth quarter, the Blizzards appeared well on their way to winning the franchise’s 10th NFL championship. But when Moran Sweeney’s pass to WR Vince Clinton on third-and-18 from the Nebraska 13 with 9:55 left in the game was overthrown, the tide began to turn.

On fourth down, the Rams blocked the Blizzards punt and recovered it in the endzone, making the score 17-10. St. Louis blocked yet another punt, on Nebraska’s next possession, setting up a 24-yard field goal with 4:51 left in the game, narrowing the Blizzards lead to 17-13. After St. Louis’ quick flurry of points, the Nebraska sideline breathed a sigh of relief when the visitors recovered the Rams’ onside kick. Unfortunately, however, the worst was yet to come.

After RB Jerome Sweeney ran three times for 17 yards, Nebraska was positioned at the St. Louis 19 facing a second-and-seven with 3:08 to go in the game. Given the success of the running game, it seemed all the Blizzards needed to do was run the ball and bleed the clock. On the next play, however, Moran Sweeney curiously called for a pass, which he completed to WR Buddy Thomason for seven yards and a first down. That was when things got very, very weird.

In a move that will be forever second-guessed, Moran Sweeney called a pass play on first down at the St. Louis 12 with 2:39 to go with Nebraska holding a 17-13 lead. The result was a complete disaster. Moran fumbled as he was sacked for a 12-yard loss and St. Louis recovered at the Rams’ 25. With 2:31 left to play, St. Louis still had a chance.

Blizzards fans had reason to celebrate when it appeared that the Nebraska defense would step up to the challenge, forcing St. Louis into a fourth-and-10 from their own 35 with 1:36 left in the game. The hope of sealing a Nebraska Super Bowl win on the next play, however, turned out to be just wishful thinking.

St. Louis QB Rod Baughman completed a 14-yard pass on fourth down to keep the drive alive, and then connected on throws of 14 and 30 yards to give the Rams a first down at the Nebraska 7 with 55 seconds left in the game. On the very next play, Baughman found WR Johnny Robertson in the endzone for a seven-yard touchdown pass, giving the Rams their first lead of the game with 49 seconds left on the clock, 20-17.

The Blizzards tried to mount a comeback starting at the their own 25 with 41 seconds left in the game, but a holding penalty and four consecutive incomplete passes by Moran Sweeney sealed the St. Louis victory.

Rams CB Earnest Giantonio was named Super Bowl MVP after making three tackles, blocking a punt that was recovered in the endzone for the first Rams touchdown, and recovering a blocked punt that led to St. Louis’ second field goal.

His voice trembling and appearing visibly shaken, Worthington explained that he would not sign the $10 billion contract for the nine-time NFL championship team. "For reasons I cannot discuss, I will not be able to complete the purchase the Blizzards."

Washington, DC (AP) - The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced today that the Nebraska Blizzards have been purchased by an investment group known as "The Consortium" which paid $10 billion for the team. "This is an excellent deal for the American people," said Linda Rivell of the Treasury Department. "The investment group paid cash in full."

Yahsi Kobe, the Consortium's spokeperson, said that the members of the group do not wish to be identified and will allow the team to be run by the current management "for the time being." "My job is simply to oversee the football operations for my employer," Kobe said.

When asked if the Consortium had any interest in moving the team out of Lincoln, Kobe responded, "I have no information as to what my employers wish to do about that."

<h2>2029 Season Review</h2>
Although the 2029 season was a success, the team's last-minute loss
in the Super Bowl will leave a bad taste in the mouths of players and
fans alike for some time. Among the season's highlights was the
emergence of LB Wes Lane who led the league with 137 solo tackles
and won All-League First Team honors in just his first year as a starter.
In addition, RB Jerome Sweeney broke the 1,000 yard mark for the
10th time in his career, and C Julio Moore was name All-League
First Team for the sixth time in his 11 years as a starter.

Lincoln, Nebraska (AP) - Nebraska Blizzards Interim GM Leland Bronson announced today that General Manager Jack "Grid" Iron has awakened from a coma after a full year, and is being released from the hospital. "We're all very happy, and look forward to him coming back to work," said Bronson.

"I'm thankful to God, and my family that I survived this ordeal," said Iron in a prepared statement read by his son, Jack "Grid" Iron, Jr. "I know, also, that whatever doesn't kill you, makes you stronger." Iron's son added that his father will take a few month off before getting back to his general manager duties.

December 31, 2029

Lincoln, Neb. (AP) - In an unprecedented move, the Nebraska Blizzards, owned by a mysterious groupd known only as "The Consortium", was gifted to the team's GM Jack "Grid" Iron and the City of Lincoln. "The Consortium has decided that the Blizzards belong to those who supported the team, and built it into a nine-time Super Bowl winner," said Consortium spokesman Yashi Kobe. "Therefore, my employers have directed me to tranfer ownership of the team to the City, and the team's general manager--effective immediately."

Kobe explained that Grid Iron has been transferred a 51% interest in the team, essentially giving him complete control over the franchise. The City of Lincoln will receive a 49% interest in the team, and receive a proportion of all profits.

"I'm shocked, stunned and ecstatic," said Iron who recently returned home from the hospital after one year in a coma. "I wish I knew who was responsible for this," he said. "Whoever you are, thank you, thank you , thank you."

Iron added that he will make sure the team never moves from the City of Lincoln. "I'll never let that happen."

Surprised to hear from me? I know, I know, you thought I was dead long ago. Well, nothing can keep a brilliant entrepreneur down.

As you can probably guess, I faked the death of myself and family in Germany. As for the cryptic notes I left for you that sent you on a 'round-the-world scavenger hunt, I had to make you believe I was dead. If people knew I was alive, either the U.S. government would have thrown me in jail or Jamir Sabah would have had me killed.

I must say that you have surpassed all of my expectations when I hired you back when the franchise was born. Saved the human race from extinction. Killed one of the most evil world leaders history has ever known. Nine Super Bowl victories. Can I spot talent, or what?

Your success in football and life demonstrate that you are truly deserving of the gift my friends and I have bestowed upon you. It took very little to convince the other members of The Consortium that the Nebraska Blizzards should belong to you. It has always been your team, and always will be.

As for me, all I can say is that I am living happily with my wife in a quiet, peaceful location. I can see the beach as I write this. My children, interestingly, are attending college in the United States under new identities. They visit me often.

As for the future, I haven't decided yet. However, given that I secretly transferred every last dime of Sabah's $1 trillion fortune into The Consortium's offshore accounts before the fall of Kuwait City, the sky's the limit.

I'm sure that there's some sort of interesting mischief I can get myself into with all that money.

I guess you'll just have to wait and see. . .

Here ends the Nebraska Blizzards Dynasty. I enjoyed writing it, and I hope everyone enjoyed reading it. Thanks to everyone who followed the story of Grid Iron and the Blizzards.

While I am sad to see it go, I feel content that I was able to convey the story I set out to tell over one year ago. :eek:

I hope to post a Decade Review shortly, and then later I will post an Epilogue so everyone can find out what eventually happens to the characters in the Dynasty.

After that, I'm going to turn my attention to .400 Software Studios' Total Pro Football, which looks very interesting. It appears to offer more role-playing depth than FOF4, which is a big selling point for me. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

If TPF disappoints, I'll just go back to FOF2, which I believe is the perfect combination of statistical realism and simplicity of gameplay (FOF4 is just too darn detailed for my tastes) with a great user interface (the reason I stayed away from FOF 2001-02).

Thanks again, everyone, for following the Blizzards. It's been a blast!

One of the greatest dynaties ever written! Sad to see the end. :( But I must say that every time I see this updated my eyes light up wondering what turn it would take. Great Job Grid!

P.S. I think that he should get a custom title so that instead of Starter it would be Writer of Nebraska Blizzards or Greatest Dynasty Ever :D
