Starting Veterans in FOFc

I've noticed that the AI will start inferior veterans instead of higher rated younger players. This would be understandable with rookies, because a high rated (I'm talking the current ratings not the future ones) rookie still has to learn the "ins and outs of the pro-game." But I even find that the AI will start a 10 year veteran rated at 35 instead of a 6 year veteran rated at 48. This drives me nuts.

Any suggestions?

I have a sneaking suspicion that at times, a 10 year veteran rated at 35 might perform better than a 6 year veteran rated at 48. Have you checked their career stats to see if the 6 year vet actually performs better according to game stats?

Manage your own depth chart if this bothers you. It takes a little longer, but I do this now and then when I know I'm in a "rebuilding" year, and I'd rather give a younger player the experience than start the veteran that gives me a better chance to win.
