Just made the jump from dial-up. Going broadband after dial-up is like going from walking to teleporting.
My firewall is going ape$hit though... kind of makes me paranoid although all of it is apparently routine internet traffic.

Yeah, the Blaster and Welchia worm look just like routine internet traffic... just at an ape$hit rate. ;)

Here's the progression I've made:
1980 - 300 baud on TRS Model 4
1984 - 1200 baud on Tandy 1000
1988 - 9600 baud on 286 clone
1990 - 14400 baud on 386SX/25 clone
1994 - 28800 baud on 486DX4/100 clone
1996 - 57K baud on Pentium 90
1997 - ISDN on Pentium 2
2002 - Cable Modem on Pentium 3
Now - 10MB Fiber on Pentium 4
And I still want more speed!!! :D

You know what they say -- once you've gone broadband, you never go back.
Shhhh....don't tell the dial up users (ME!) :D

Damn skippy! You couldn't pay me to go back to dial up. I'm willing to even give up buying my precious beer if it will help me pay the DSL bill...

You're trying to create a situation where I'm gonna have to be fired so the company I work for can stay open, aren't you...

You do if you had a cable modem but moved to an area which doesn't have DSL or cable modems (damned Adelphia....)

or when you cable company goes on strike and its bright and intelligent unionized employees start cutting wires here and there, shutting down access to whole areas for sometimes as long as a week... That's what happened to me last Summer. No DSL where I live, but found a wireless (non-satellite) highs speed access last December and we're back on high speed, gotta love that :D
cartman, I really enjoyed the flashbacks you gave us there, wow, time is flying. Thinking my 6 y.o. son has never known dial-up amazes me. It'll always go up from here...
