Bengals Release Dugans

Third receiver Ron Dugans was released by the Bengals today (along with S JoJuan Armour). Damn. I liked Dugans and last year noticed how improved I felt he was getting and how he was becoming a staple in the Bengals receiving corps. Too bad, I hope he goes somewhere and gets a lot of PT.

Dugans was entirely due to his injured achilles. He's been fighting tendonitis in it for months now and just hasn't been able to perform. and in Marvin's Garden's, if you don't practice, you don't play =)

I liked dugans, but he was far from the best recieer we had, and can be replaced.

According to Bengals.com there is some chance of Dugans returning next year when he is a free agent. He was given an injury settlement this year and will be unable to rejoin the team until week eleven, meaning he won't be back.

Check out some of the stuff on Bengals.com. Its nice to see the players a little scared of Marvin. Its been a long time since players acted like they had to perform to get paid.

I was happy when they picked up Williams, the WR from Michigan that TB traded to AZ for RB Jones. Williams had been cut, & the Bengals claimed him on waivers. In a typical Bengals move, they cut him 1 day later to pick up some DE from Washington.

I thought Williams was a good value kind of guy in the 3rd round, and wanted him to get a chance. How he didn't fit in AZ with their pathetic WR corps, I don't have a clue.

I have two friends who play for the Cardinals and both said Marquis Walker was the worst WR in camp. He couldn't catch, complained after every drill and didn't put any effort it. The one guy said that some of the undrafted FA camp fodder looked more professional than he did.

I think the fact that Walker got cut by a team with Larry Foster as their No. 1 WR says a lot about his dedication and performance.

:( That's disappointing. I had, for no very good reason, latched on to him as a guy I was supporting. I follow the draft every year, pick out a bunch of guys I like, slot them, & watch for them draft day.

He was one of the guys I picked out, and I thought was a good value in the 3rd when he was taken by TB. In my mind, I'd imagined him as a stalwart professional, working on being better in routes & catching, because his speed wasn't blazing. Only so much you can get out of pre-draft periodicals though. Attitude has so much to do with success. Still, I somehow feel let down. Just another reason to hate Michigan.

Why is that a typical Bengals move? What's wrong with picking a guy up to take a look. That's what they did, and obviously they didn't like what they saw. Just like the Cards and the Bucs didn't like him.

Like Arles said, it's not the Cards' fault he didn't fit.

At this point, I'm giving Marvin Lewis the benefit of the doubt on roster moves, as they have looked nothing like the moves of the past decade.

Frankly, any wide reciever we pick up willhave to have spome real ability to stay on the squad. Our recievers aren't the chopped liver dog food they feed the Arizona fans every year.

Any of you guys near Cincinnatti heard anything on how Peter Warrick has looked? espn.com and cnnsi are both saying he looks great, but that doesn't say much, they have a tendancy to be a little generous in rating how players look in the preseason.

I picked up Warrick for the last spot on my on my Fantasy team and was just wondering how wise a move that may turn out to be.

I hear he's dropped about 15lbs and is quicker than he's ever been. Apparently, he is indeed doing very well.

Having said that, however, they drafted Washington in the hopes that he'd be the #2 across from Johnson and move Warrick into the slot. That, in my opinion, is not realistic for this season, but depending on how he develops, may happen next year.

My guess is 55-60 catches, 6TD for Warrick.

I hold on to him, my guess is he will be back to returning punts, that should give him some value.

Not saying he's going to the pro bowl this year, but Foster is a decent player. He had some big catches for the Lions and I was upset when they traded him. Should he be the #1 WR.... no.... #2 or #3.... sure....

Isn't "notable ex-Bengal" an oxymoron?

If Dugans can't make the Bengals, then he doesn't deserve to play pop warner football. That said, the Bengals actually have a core of solid, if unspectacular, receivers.
