Cowboys 52
Raiders 13
The Cowboys scored 24 points in the first quarter, beating the Raiders starters 24-0.
Last time the Cowboys scored 50+ points in a game was in the 1992 Super Bowl when we won 52-17 over the Bills.
Go Q-Car!
Go Cowboys!!!

QC is setting you up to break your heart. Of course, that still means he'll probably have a monster game against Atlanta, but then he'll end up throwing 6 picks to the Cards in week 5.
Any idea why Adrian Murrell didn't play in this game.... I know they were talking about cutting him and the re-signing him after week 1, but I hadn't heard if that was a done deal....

too bad Jerry Jones made a deal with the devil. Jones traded his soul for 240 total points (including preseason).

I assume that move would be to avoid having to guarantee his salary. "Vested veterans" have their full season's salary guaranteed if they are on the roster in week 1. Many beleive this is why you will eventually see Andre Rison on the Bucaneers, but not until after the first week at earliest.

Bah... Oakland has looked gawd-awful the entire pre-season. I don't think Gannon has recovered from his poor showing at the Super Bowl.
Enjoy it while you can, Cowpies fans... the regular season is going to be a lot more brutal.

Most likely it will be brutal, but I have to enjoy the victories when they come... :)
Carter might realize a little bit more of his potential now that he doesn't have an offensive coordinator conspiring against him.

A Cowboy's down year is a great thing, but this 5-6 year run has been an absolute blessing! Keep up the great work Dallas!!!! :)

QCarr definitely looks like a smarter quarterback, but he should be. This is his third NFL season. I still think he's not consistent enough to lead the team on real scoring drives, as opposed to taking advantage of a coverage breakdown for a big play. Any QB good enough to make an NFL roster could hit a receiver wide open downfield when the DB's have bitten on a play action or a rollout. I hope for Parcells' sake Carter pans out, because if it turns out we don't have any promising QB's on the roster, then we'll likely be forced to draft a quarterback, which will set us back a few years. Then, so much for this "second-year playoffs" thing that apparently Parcells has done with every other team he's coached.
I do think Troy Hambrick looks like he might be a decent player at least. He's definitely got the size and north-south running power to be a reliable 20-touch back, though I doubt he'll be a workhorse in the Curtis Martin-type mold. Has he shown any skill as a pass-catcher? I keep reading that the Cowboys are trying to implement the screen into the offense, but I've been reading that ever since Chan Gailey was hired. Too bad Al Johnson was lost for the season, we could have used a mobile, pulling center to run those types of plays.
The Cowboys also will definitely come to play every Sunday. Parcells is obviously focusing on the little things that every great team needs to do well to be successful. Whether or not he has the talent to win games, he can at least turn young athletes into smart football players. He can only teach so much, but he already seems to have done more than Campo ever could have.
I think Jerry Jones really hit it right this time, not only by hiring Parcells but also by allowing him to build a top-flight coaching staff. It seems almost unconventional the way it's structured, with more coaches to focus on specific areas (Dave Meggett to focus solely on punt returns and coverage, Tom Coughlin and Ron Wolf to advise and evaluate talent on an admittedly limited basis). You can be sure that we'll see the maximum that can be squeezed out of this roster.

Also by the way, as a diehard Cowboys fan, I love the fact that there are so many Cowboy haters out there. We obviously hate to see our boys lose, but isn't it great that our team is always in the limelight, even when it's bad? It almost seems like all those haters have a weird sense of jealousy for us. I know I would if I were an Eagles fan, for example--they've got a good team, but let's face it, they won't be getting near that trophy any time soon. We Cowboys fans know that it's only a matter of time before we're back there. And when the Cowboys do get back on top, it'll be so gratifying that all those Cowboy haters will be in misery again. If they're willing to spend this much negative attention on the Boys at a time like this, it's got to be pure hell for them during the good years.
