So, my stepson hands me a copy of "The Two Towers" and the following letter (written as neatly as he can manage) as a birthday present this morning:
Happy birthday Dad!
It's your birthday! One of the greatest days of the year! Because you get to have lots of fun and you get to celebrate it with your family and friends and it makes me happy to see you having fun. Like you and mom, doing sports, playing video games but the best one of all that makes me happy is you being my Dad. I'm grateful that you're my Dad. You give me video games, comic books, and toys. You teach me history, computer parts, and lost of other stuff that I don't know. You are an awesome dad. I love you. Have a great birthday.
I haven't cried like that since the first time I saw the ending of "Field of Dreams." I'm gonna hafta buy that boy a new bicycle or something... ;)

Wow, Frank! now you had to go and give me goosebumps. :)
How old is your stepson? That's a mighty nice little message he left you there. My son's only 6, but whenever he simply writes me "Daddy, I love you, you are my friend" on a 2"x2" postit not, I get all teary eyed. Kids can be such a source of joy...
Also, aren't you expecting another one soon, this Fall if I remember? How's the wife doing?
Oh, I almost forgot, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Enjoy that movie!! :D

Man, I get all gooey when my niece tells me that she loves me. I can't wait until I have a kid that tells me that... :)
Happy B-Day Franklin!
Oh, as thank for the note and movie, I think you need to reward the kid with his very own account here at FOFC. It's something that every kid needs... ;)

I have two step-daugters and have shared that same feeling. I recently adopted them and one of the most emotional, teary-eyed feelings I have ever had is when they were on the stand in front of the judge telling him that they wanted me to adopt them.

The wife is 8 months pregnant. Big as a house, and practically begging the OB to "get this *$%&# thing outta me!" Otherwise, things a looking good. The kid is huge - if it's a boy, it's gonna be Franklin Junior... my wife doesn't seem too keen on me nicknaming him "Frank the Tank," tho... go figure. ;)

Eh... he's not on the internet much. We live out on a dirt road - nothing but slow dial-up (which is why most of my posting here is done while I'm at "work".... 50 hours a week... hah... take that, boss-man!)

Already got that covered... kid's got a pretty sweet go-kart...
... although he was none too subtle about reminding me of some Dragonball Z game he wants for the PS2 while I was driving him to school this morning... :D

That's totally cool... my wife and I are talking about maybe adopting a kid in a few years... she's had a tough pregnancy, and I'm not sure I wanna put her (or myself) through that again. ;)
